Thanks for the encouragement, @Beatrice Taylor and @Joe Riley.

In the morning light, it doesn't look too shabby. After it's painted with regular paint, I'll pick out the worst flaw I can find, and post a picture of it. :D

I'm afraid when the cold weather comes, the wood in the house will shrink and the corners will all crack open, or when you start nailing some trim, the plaster will all fall off.

Honestly the dust was really starting to take a toll---coughing and sneezing all day, red scratchy eyes. The plan is to spend today doing some heavy duty dusting. :p

That's when you could really notice the difference---after a few hours out at the farm, then come home. Hope that stuff didn't get in the heating ducts. Ironically, the reason I started repairing this closet in the first place was because I thought dust was creeping in from the attic, through some cracks and holes in the closet walls that repairmen and roofers made.

I don't know where to start. Even the walls probably need vacuumed. I really need to take everything outside and shake it. There is no place to move things while you clean. Maybe this is a good time to throw away some stuff. Two birds with one stone.

You could always fill up the new closet.

It may be the only room without dust right now. [IMG]

Tempting, but If I did that, it would guarantee the closet would never get finished. Just close the door and forget about it.

Dust removal went pretty well so far. There is no plan. Just start anywhere you see dust and keep going.

Dogwood tree. Two bags of top soil and one bag of pine bark mulch. Not as deep as it looks. Should be able to rake up lots of pine straw from the front yard out at the farm in a few weeks, to spread around a little farther out.

Looking on the internet for closet clothes rods, brackets, storage ideas, etc. Ran across these. All that drywall and finishing work unnecessary.

I'm not looking....I hate spiders! Wood Roaches are another of my most least favorite! But a good "flip flop" can do a job on both! LOL

Hi Pam! If you have a pet spider, like I do (I mean, did :() it will make you cry. ;)

I was hoping for a big wind to blow all the leaves away, but 4 days of rain have ruined that plan.

I forgot about leaves and snow. Ugh! The leaves out in the country all came down in one week with the rain here. In town they are mostly still on the trees.

I bought one gallon of very expensive Sherwin Williams paint for the closet. Wanted to try it, to see if SW paint is better, plus I thought I could get 2 coats out of it. Nope. Must have been that chalky primer. Touched up some missed spots with a brush, and I'm going to thin the rest down and make do with what I've got left, for a second roller coat, to hide the touch ups. Did I mention I hate painting?

I guess the next step is baseboards and trim. Or maybe I should try to finish the floor? I'll probably put a carpet in there anyway, but I've never tried to finish a hardwood floor before, and it would be a good opportunity to learn.

Seriously thinking about using galvanized pipes for the clothes rack. Don't want sagging rods. Something like this.

In our upstairs hall closet, they used blocks of wood with a V cut in top, and galvanized pipe. Very solid and simple.
