How would you like to open your front door to this?

Funny how people way inland, from the coast, will say "don't you know there are gators all over the place in Florida". Which, to a point is true, but since we got here in Jan 2009, we've only seen one gator in the wild. It was a young one laying by a small retention pond by a boat ramp. That's it.

As far as this photo goes, what a surprise for the homeowner if he tried to open the door. Actually, I'm now wondering who took the photo, without disturbing the gator?

I'm safe, I'll never be able to afford a home that close to the gators in Florida!!!

This alligator was found between Lakeland and Winter Haven Florida near the house of Anita and Charlie Rogers, who could hear the beast bellowing in the night.
Their neighbors had been telling them that they had seen a mammoth alligator in the waterway that runs behind their house, but they dismissed the stories as exaggerations.
‘I didn’t believe it,’ Charles Rogers said, but after the alligator was killed, they realized the stories were, if anything, understated.
Game wardens were forced to shoot the alligator. Joe Goff, a 6’5″ tall game warden, shown below, walks past the 28-foot, 1-inch long alligator that he helped shoot and kill in the Rogers’ back yard.

How about this one? Definitely could swallow a person whole without a bit of trouble.

They probably went out a side or back door and came around to the front and took a picture...or maybe a neighbor took the picture. :)

Kind of sad that the best we can do is kill animals that get too close to humans.

I don't have any good solutions it just makes me kind of sad.

I think in this case it might be a case of kill or be killed (sooner or later).

I remember when I was in my teen years having baby alligators for pets was the in thing. But when people got tired of them some of those people would flush the baby alligators down their toilets. Now back then I don't know if it was possible for that baby alligator to end up in a pond or lake taking the toilet route...but strange things do happen. :)

If you see a woman in alligator shoes around your neighborhood, @Yvonne Smith ...I'd smack Bobby with a frying pan. :)

Quote from a movie, but yes, it would have been more appropriate if I had said, “Yvonne” but then, it would not have been a quote. And, to be clear, the first sentence was the quote and I sorta made up the rest........... :).
