I, like most of us, enjoy all the seasons.

Summer in the South can be a lazy time; great nights grilling out.
Fall, with it's crisp mornings and changing leaves.
Winter here is usually mild and indoor activities.
Spring wakes us from those cold days.

Ah...but tonight my favorite season starts.

    FOOTBALL!

Tennessee Titans playing the Green Bay Packers.
Both of my teams, Titans and Nebraska, have new head coaches.

The start of each season brings new hope for the Teams and the Fans.

Sitting here wearing my Titan jersey, watching the game and thought I'd post.
( I'll be in the stands next week for our home opener ).

I was an avid Steelers fan for more than 50 years, but I gave up the NFL last year and was delighted at how much free time I now have on Sundays especially. I still enjoy an occasional college game, but no particular team.

Yes @Holly Saunders it is pretty silly.

Seems the older I get, the more involved I get with my sports teams.
Need that ' up-out-of-my-seat' excitement that cheering for a team brings.

Every saturday during football season, we gather with a group of fans and watch
    the Nebraska College games.

Now, being in Tennessee, you'd think that there wouldn't be a lot of Nebraska fans,
but we will get 50 to 100 people show up every Saturday.
The Sports Bar really enjoys the business and treats us very special.

We are booked to fly out to Chicago for 2 nights to see the Huskers play Northwestern in October.
Joining other couples from the Watch Group. Should be a great time.

And I think the reason they call it 'Football', is that 'Handball' was already taken!

I was a Steelers fan also but now even though I'm in CA. I'm a Bears fan...and of course Cubs!!

Chicago always has a warm place in my heart...even though it's a mess now in some areas....of course it was always corrupt ...I lived there in the times of Daley as mayor...think both father and son.

Maybe because that's where I was married and had my two kids.❤️

I really can't get into the 49ers....although I've seen quite a few games when I happen to visit on a Sunday at my daughter's.

Daughter and I try to leave the house, lol....She always brings back hot wings that night though.

Even though we are in Jacksonville Jaguars country, we are Denver Bronco fans (NFL) and Wyoming Cowboys (college/university) fans.

Anyway, the controversy has started again about the National Anthem and NFL players.

Yep, seems like every Monday a certain part of Chicago makes headlines with all of shootings and murders over the previous weekend. Gang warfare. .

We will be staying in Downtown Chicago, guess we'll take our chances.
Haven't been to Chicago for going on 20 years.
Last time, I was younger and went alone to hook up with some musician friends.
We hit mostly Jazz clubs and had a great time.

You'll be fine in downtown....I was there a few years ago but stayed on Michigan avenue at the Westin. Was with my son and DIL and grandsons.

BTW! My son and DIL are in Gatlinsburg, TN at a cabin. Part of a road trip they took from Illinois.

American Football grew out of rugby, just as rugby grew out of what we call soccer, and the foot was used much more in the early years. I was told that rugby was developed by Welsh miners who thought soccer was too much of a sissy game and wanted something more "manly". Not much padding was used in American football in the early years either. Increasing the padding, particularly the helmets, has actually made the sport MORE dangerous for the players. Canadian football grew out of American football, and the Aussies have developed their own brands of "manly" sports, mostly from rugby.

Rugby developed at a Boarding school called In Rugby.

In around 1860 the Pupils at the school were playing football(soccer) when one of the boys just picked up the ball and ran with it.

Good job I read this topic as was going to post.

    Autumn(sp) starts in September
