If you are mostly interested in documentaries and non-fiction, you might want to consider Curiosity Stream. Available online or through Roku, it costs $20 a year but it has a lot of documentaries on a large number of subjects, such as history, science, technology, nature, civilization, and the human spirit. Some are basic documentaries, while others are documentary series. I signed up for a year. By the time a year is up, I’ll probably have seen everything that I am interested in so I may not renew. Then again, like Netflix, maybe they’ll add enough new stuff to keep it interesting.
Sunday mornings are now reserved for a light breakfast and settling in to watch something from the 'Curiosity Stream' or 'History Vault' channels. These are pay channels and the programs have so far, been worth the price. I find myself taking notes, so I can follow up with more research on a subject. Never too old to learn something new and reset those things I might have known in the past.
CuriosityStream has dropped its yearly membership to just under $12.00, to $11.88, I think. They say it's a one-time thing to encourage people to stay in and hide from the virus.
