I think that Robin has the Hive app for her home, too, @Holly Saunders . Most things I do on the ipad, so I have the apps that I use most on there; but some things only work on the phone and can’t be downloaded to the ipad. The Apple Health app is only for the phone, and I have a bunch of health apps that connect with my Health app, and those are actually the apps that I use most when you consider all of them as my health monitors.
I have never been able to keep track of my health like I can do now, and I just can’t express how much I enjoy being able to do that.
Most of the other apps are just things that I like; but the health apps (collectively) are what is important to me.

I rarely even answer my phone or check messages, let alone bothering with apps.

    Favorite App is probably Pandora.
    Gotta have my music...

Most of the others I use as the need arises.

When we travel, I'll use my Airline app for boarding pass and such.

My Hilton app to unlock my door and pre-check in. ( since I work for them )

    Also 'Lyft' to get around.

I like Apps that help me get on with my day.

    Hello,

I am trying to understand the expectations of seniors from apps and how to meet them. Can you please list 2 apps (of your own choice) which you use the most and highlight in detail what features do you use. In addition, what are the problems (if any) you face while using and what do you think needs to be changed to improve your experience?

The more detailed the answers will be, the more the improvements will be made in the next versions of the apps.

Hint - An example would be to select your airline app and try to book a ticket and pour your thoughts here regarding your expectations and problems that need solution.

P.S. You can select one app which you like most and one you dislike most in order to think from different perspectives.

    Many Thanks,
    Bill

@Bill Oscar, welcome to the forum. I would be happy to answer your questions, and hope that you will also be giving us your own answers.

I am trusting, for the moment, that you are a senior, as this forum is for people fifty or older. I mention this only because you are referring to "seniors" in the third-person, which generally indicates a group that you are not a part of.

If indeed you are a senior, then I don't mind at all that you are seeking the opinions of other seniors here. Clearly, there is a business aspect to your questions but that's fine. Many of us are still working and if any of us can help you in your job, app development, or whatever, great.

I am afraid that I won't be of much help, however. Although I have an iPhone, I rarely use it for anything other than to make telephone calls. The only apps that I have downloaded are a solitaire app that I never used a second time because the ads take up more of the screen space than the game, and a GPS app.

The GPS app, Waze, I do use quite a bit. I have found it to be accurate. That wasn't the case when it first started and, in fact, I removed it after the first time I tried to use it because it got me lost. It has improved greatly, however, and my wife encouraged me to give it another try.

I like that it utilizes a community-warning system to warn (quite accurately) of the presence of police along the road, accidents, traffic slow-downs, of obstacles in the roadway, even roadkill. When I am a passenger in the vehicle, I enjoy assisting in this community effort by reporting such things.

My only complaint is not a complaint actually, but rather a minor distraction. That is that users often report obstacles or accidents in the opposing lane, even on a divided highway, when disturbances in the oncoming lane don't affect me a bit.

I'm not going to be much help.

I use my phone to make calls. I suppose you might consider that my ringtone app would be considered in this. I change my ringtones for incoming calls and alarms a couple times a month.

As for my tablet .. it's all about playing games.

Oh yeah, there are tablets too. I have four Kindles, only two of which I use on a regular basis. One is used almost entirely for downloading books that I use in research on my job. No app involved, as they are Amazon books. My other Kindle is a smaller one, which I use for books that I read in bed or at restaurants and such.

I use both of them to get online when I'm not near any of my computers but I don't use a search engine app for that. Rather, I use the Amazon Silk browser, which comes pre-installed, and which I like very much. I have tried the Bing search engine browser because I get points redeemable in gift cards for searches made through Bing, but the Bing logo took up too much of an already small screen, so I have found it easier and more useful to simply do my searches through the browser.

I played Simple Mahjong quite a lot for a few months, but lost interest in it and haven't played it in quite a while. There was nothing wrong with the free app, but I just had other things to do. Another one called simply Mahjong, I played for a while too. I have downloaded a couple of solitaire games but rarely play them.

As for any other apps, I use Notepad once in a while, but that's about it.

If you read through this section of the forum, where we discuss technology, there are several threads that talk about different apps that most of us use on our different devices, @Bill Oscar .
As a group, we pretty much run the whole gamut from those of us who have several devices and use all kinds of apps, and the other end of the spectrum, are those who don’t use any devices with apps at all.

Speaking for myself, I have several devices, and use them all for different reasons, so what would be a favorite app on my phone, might be something that I don’t even use on my iPad, or even have on my Kindle.
So, trying to come up with my most liked (or disliked) app , is not as simple as you seem to think it is, at least for me.

On my iPhone, I would have to say that (besides making calls) my favorite apps are my activity tracker, my camera app, and my Apple Health app. On my Apple Watch, again it would be the activity tracker, and then the heart rate app.
On my iPad, the app that I use most would be find my friends, followed by the weather channel, and then Amazon for shopping, or maybe Facebook would be next.
I only read books on my Kindle, so even though it has other apps, I don’t use any of them.
Pretty much, I am satisfied with how all of these apps work, although I would like more connectivity between non-Apple health apps and my Apple Watch. I have several other health apps that I use, and some will connect with my watch and some don’t, and it helps when I can connect a fitness tracker to a health-oriented app.

    Dunno.
The only app I do NOT like is the Face Book app but my dislike has nothing to do with the application working right but rather, I do not like Face Book.

I guess the applications I like best are the medical and workout apps on my Apple Watch but like most anything else with personal tech, I can live with it or without it.

I'm afraid I don't have a "favorite" app, which would imply that I'm particularly fond of using it. Basically, I only use four apps and I do that simply because they are indispensable: Google, Chrome browser, my banking app for mobile TANs and Whatsapp, of which only the last two are real apps that I had to download and install. The others belong to the OS. No need for anything other than those. Disappointed? :D
