I ran across this old picture and thought I'd share it here. I love old pictures like this, of famous people in casual settings. Do you have any?

Franklin Roosevelt and Winston Churchill fishing at "Shangri-La", Maryland, May 1943. Shangri-La is the name FDR gave to what would later become Camp David.

Yes, at first I thought he was holding a fishing rod. Bet they didn't really do much fishing. ;)

Can you imagine these two "hippies" becoming who they became?

Or that he lived overseas going to "college", under an assumed name, ostensibly to avoid the Draft? Or that he has never in his life been issued a Drivers License? Or that while President, they never shared the same bedroom?

From memory, ingrained for life. Two Secret Service persons who resigned, though not at the same time, in disgust during his White House stay revealed why they had quit. A sheriff in Mena, Arkansas testified of criminal activities before the White House. Some might be rumor, sure. Much is documented, however. Fact remains that more persons died who were connected to his Presidency than during any other President's tenure, many of them of claimed causes undocumented, or documented fraudulently. Vince Foster. Two teen-aged boys. Ron Brown.

The first, a lifelong friend, lawyer, who told someone he feared for his life. Death ruled suicide, no gun found, bullet never found, body found up a wet, grassy slope, no grass on shoes, right-handed individual shot in left temple, complete police and FBI reports vanished, never found.

Teen friends died on a RR track. Official report, they fell asleep on the tracks. They had told folks they saw something being dropped from small planes often on the Whitewater Property owned by the Clintons. The mother of one had the boy exhumed, private autopsy done, revealed blunt trauma to head inconsistent with a RR impact.

Ron Brown, Sec'y of Agriculture, plane smashed into a mountain in Croatia, 35 killed. US reports said crashed in a storm. Official Croatian report condemned the air traffic controller stating the plane was guided into the mountain. Controller soon found dead: US said suicide, official report, murdered. Soon after the Airport Director
    disappeared.

None of the above will be easily found today, but old timers with good memories remember.

This is a famous photo you've all probably seen before, but what struck me was how thin Lincoln appears. He seems to have something under his coat on his left side. They all do. Wallets? And why the right hands inside the coats on the other two? :)

Maybe flasks @Nancy Hart? :) Maybe the other two guys were getting ready for a drink, lol.

I have noticed that men in the 1800's seemed to look very thin for the most part.
