Tropical storms and hurricanes, really, really good reasons to live in Florida or actually any Gulf or East Coast State. Will still take "Old Man Winter" over these summer storms and humidity.
Although, most of you already know this.

@Cody Fousnaugh , but the hurricanes pass by in a day. The winter storms snow and snow and snow ………………………………….. and the snow stays and stays and stays. We are harvesting veggies from our gardens now and it just got above freezing for all those poor people up north.

But, hurricanes are much more destructive than any snow storm or even blizzard. There are lots and lots of people who Iive up north and don’t “give a hoot” about Florida and/or the Southern States. We live in Florida, but sure don’t like it. We like a “Western” lifestyle along with freshwater lakes, so none of Florida is for us anymore.

I don't know about the lifestyle but there are some of the best fishing lakes in Florida. Lake Okeechobee for one. My son has fished there and the fishing is great. And it's just one among many.

This isn't always the case Shirley, sometimes the heavy rain and winds stall and hang around much longer. But even when they don't stall, hurricanes bring flooding and destruction along their path that is devastating to so many.

Don’t tell that to folks that fish in Colorado lakes and lakes like Lake Mead, Lake Powell, Lake Havasu and Lake McConaughy in southwestern Nebraska.

Besides that, most freshwater lakes are extremely shallow in Florida. The deepest Lake Okeechobee is is 10 ft in the middle and absolutely full of gators. No thanks!

It's full of big fish, too. :D Most fish are caught in shallower water. He says the alligators mostly don't bother boats. Just don't get too close and bother them.

Well, never/ever have to worry about gators in Colorado lakes or those lakes I mentioned. They had some very nice size Rainbow Trout in them and we caught our share.

Actually, we had three new saltwater rigs and new tackle, never used any of it. Sold some and gave away the rest.

Have, and are keeping, to use when we move back, all of our freshwater fishing rods/reels and tackle that we bought when living in Colorado before.

Lake Okeechobee and the other Florida lakes are fresh water lakes.

Just too shallow for our boat and we refuse to fish wherever gators are, no matter how friendly they are.

Shirley, you should get the idea by now that we love mountains and NOT here!

Actually, there are a lot of folks that don’t like Florida and either don’t move here or move out.
    You know that, right?

@Cody Fousnaugh I sure will be glad when y'all get to move....it's depressing to hear how much you hate Florida all the time.

Babs, we don’t hate Florida, even though it sounds like that. It has just turns out that we made a mistake in moving to Jacksonville and Florida isn’t for us either.

Do you know how many people live in places where they aren’t happy. Some can move, others can’t. Some complain about where they live and others don’t.

IOW, people complain about different things in life, including family.

For what it's worth, Florida is one of the few places in the country that I couldn't imagine myself ever wanting to live in.
