I have been taking care of a cat that’s not exactly what you’d call friendly ...she is when SHE wants food or attention ...but if you pat her and she’s not in the mood well.look out .. She is one very spoilt cat .,her blanket cost $30 ( We went to cstoco and got it at the owners request ) when we couldn’t move her off ours the same,without getting scratched or snarled at

My wife today referred to "normal cat behavior". I told her that was an oxymoron. Normal and cat should not appear in the same sentence. The cat mentioned above is a prime example.
I have one nice cat and one cat that behaves just like that beautiful cat , Kate is caring for... Don, you don't like cats ? ever visit a one owner little ankle biter dog? Look out!! Not all cats are like that.. they may have had some trauma at one point in their lives. My cat Katrina is the one who does not tolerate much petting either ,she was a rescue from Louisiana's Hurricane Katrina.!!! my other cat you could pet him all day and he never scratched anyone..
Saffy has sunk her teeth into me twice ...we are not sure if it’s because she’s suffered a broken leg ( same leg twice) or it’s just her .. She is very much loved by her owners who are away enjoying them selfs in South Africa Just relaxing watching tv ..... I suspect she’s Mr’s cat she loves sitting with my hubby
I tolerate cats, but don't enjoy them. My wife is the cat person here. We have farm cats to keep the rodents down--not as much of a problem now that we no longer have large livestock and all the grain that involves. We have one old farm cat that was my #3 son's when he was home. She is 18 now and has spent her entire life outside or in the barn. She lives in our heated garage now in her retirement and pesters me relentlessly. We have had one cat that I enjoyed--a cat that acted like a dog. I had a large German Shepherd at the time and they played together and kept each other company. We moved, however, and he went outside at our new house never to return. Our entire household was heartbroken. I don't like small dogs, either, and feel that animals should stay on the floor--not on the sofa, or the bed, or the kitchen counter or table. My wife, however, also likes small dogs, and I expect if I die first, she will get a Chihuahua or something similar as soon as the funeral is over.
@Kate Ellery My cat Chip showed up one day at our back door. She looked to be in good health, was likely hungry, was very wary, but eventually I got her to enter the house. She was a "chunky" cat, not fat, but not "slinky long", as most cats are. She was short-bodied and compact, medium sized. Chip was taught to be on a leash. Eventually, she used that constraint beyond imagination, leashed to the leg of a bed in a motel room, she suddenly darted out from under the bed, and caught a mouse which had come in under the door! Good Chip! Anyways, early on, in my shop, where she resided, my air compressor suddenly started up, she was not yet used to that noise, and she began screeching and pulling at the leash. I picked her up, hoping to console her and allay her fear, and she sank her teeth deep into my index finger. That wound took many weeks to finally heal. She didn't understand that the noise wouldn't harm her, and I didn't understand how to tell her that. Frank
Be very wary of cat bites. We had a lady nearly die from a cat bite that had been treated with an ineffective antibiotic. When the lady lost the use of her arm, she finally went to the ER, where she was properly treated. Her initial treatment was at a local Urgent Care Center. She was admitted and put on IV antibiotics to cure her sepsis.
Cats are pretty adaptable. Cats who have been fitted with collars with bells on them, to provide warning to birds, learn to hunt without sounding the bell. My cats are like that with the vacuum cleaner. I have had my arms scratched a couple of times because my wife chose to run the vacuum cleaner while I was holding the cat.
