My wife hates it when some male contributor posts the phrase, "The wife.......". She points out that rarely do the ladies make reference by using "The husband.......".
    Frank

Edit: In a way, it sounds as though they are referring to "A wife" somewhere, not necessarily their own.

I have another vacation coming up. My wife will be driving to Connecticut again but for only ten days this time. She is leaving either tomorrow or Saturday.

I didn't comment before, but will say this..........we'd never/ever do that. Boat doesn't go out unless she is on it, only time I go to Range is when she goes, same thing for shopping, going to the doctor, dentist or eye doctor. IOW, basically speaking, the only time we are apart is during the weekdays when she is working. Other than that, it's........"Happy Together", as the song by the Turtles goes.

I'd go crazy if my husband followed me everywhere...and he was the love of my life! ❤️

That would probably be the case with us as well - at least when it came to extended time away from home - if not for the cats; particularly the 27-year-old one. Her sister died while we were at a timeshare last November, and I feel very bad about not being here for her. We have someone who is very dependable, so far as feeding the cats and taking care of the litter boxes, but the older cats would hide from her so she wouldn't know if one of them was having a problem. I don't want to leave the older one alone. She seems to be doing well, but she has a heart murmur and some kidney dysfunction, apart from being the cat equivalent of more than a hundred years old.

We sometimes shop together but most often, one or the other of us does.

Well, other than her 2-day/night stay at a hospital due to surgery in 2000 and my 3-day/night stay at a hospital for hip replacement in 2005, which both times we were there during all Visiting Hours, we’ve done things together every weekday night, weekend and vacations.

Just the way our marriage is and how we like it.
We know couples that aren’t like that at all, but, that is there marriage.

Well you do have your own space while she's at work so it's not 24/7. I just need time by myself, Ive always been like that....when I could.

My wife and I both work from home for the same company, but we have separate offices. On my part, this works because I have better taste in television. She has the news on nearly all day, every day and, while I like to know what's going on, I don't want to spend the whole day angry about things that I can't do anything about anyhow, so I watch movies or series. On her part, it annoys her when I talk to the cats, particularly the deaf one. I tell her she reads lips.

I'm exactly the same.. thank goodness my husband works long hours....I get an hour of him at night and a day or 2 a week when he's not at work, but he does his own thing on one day, then we'll do something together another...go out for lunch, or down to the boat.., or work in the garden.., and then maybe twice a year we fly abroad (that's the most time we spend in each others' company, by the time we've been together all day every day on vacation we're both screaming for alone time)..lol.

All that said... I don't mean to be disrespectful to anyone whose lost a partner, and would give anything to have them back and spend all the time they could get with them... but for me, I can't have anyone around me all the time, it drives me nuts!!

Even if my husband was miraculously brought back to life I still wouldn't spend 24/7 with him. He was the same so it worked for us.

When I worked for Champion Paper Company, I had five weeks of vacation due one year, and the following year I was eligible for six weeks of vacation, so I put in for five weeks in a row just before my anniversary date, and then for six weeks of vacation immediately following my anniversary date. Adding in regular and floating holidays, I had the whole summer off. My son and I traveled leisurely to Michigan to see my father, and so that I could show him around the place where I grew up.

The company was not at all pleased but there was nothing in our contract that would give them the right to say that I couldn't put in for it all at once. On our next contract, they insisted on a clause that limited vacations to no more than two weeks at a time without prior approval of the company, meaning that if someone had a really good reason to need more, they could still allow it.

But, when she quits her current job and we move, we’ll definitely be together more. Not sure, after we move, if she will completely retire or work a part-time job during the week. We aren’t looking to move to a “big city” area, like where we are now, so the job outlook won’t be that good for her. But, with her major degree and lots of accounting, financial analyst experience, who knows.

As for me, I don’t really want to go back to work unless it’s in an office on a computer and part-time, weekdays only.

Perhaps your wife could work from home as a self employed accountant once you move Cody, if she can't find anything to suit her in the job market

Holly, believe it or not, that is one major thing that drew us to each other when we met and still.....wanting to do everything together. We were both the “clingy” type and it’s sure worked out for us.

We do have our space, somewhat, when she is on her laptop in the dining room area and I’m on the desktop in the living room, but there is no wall separating the two rooms. Or, when one of us gets up in the middle of the night or early in the morning. The other stays in bed.
