I love playing with my pictures and editing them. I tried photoshop, but I am just not that technical-minded, and soon gave up on that ! I used to have a great computer program called "Digital Image", and I could do just about any kind of photo-editing that i wanted with using that program. However, Microsoft stopped making it, and then my old dinosaur computer died anyway. I also really liked Picnik, which was an easy online editor. They are now called PicMonkey, and there is both a free and a deluxe version that you can get. It doesn't work with the iPad , however; so I can only use it if I am on a real coputer. Apple does have some apps that i like and use for the iPad though. Some of my favorites are Aviary, PhotoLab, and FaceTune. What other programs do you like to use for editing and photoshopping your pictures, or do you just leave them as they are ?
I am just learning to edit online I use picmonkey. I love it, I feel like a little kid in a candy store. I had been having so much trouble understanding what the instructions were telling me, why I don't know. Today I took a copy of a product I want to sell from the website, croped it using picmonkey then opened it in Paint removed some text that I could not get off using picmonkey and inserted into my document. I worked hard to learn how to do that. I can resize, adjust contrast and add text to my graphics now. I hope you find the software you are looking for to work on your iPad.
I use Photoshop combined with a few plug-ins that create some nice special effects. However the program is rather expensive, so when people ask for advice on how to get started with photo editing I usually recommend a program called Gimp which can be downloaded free of charge. It does all that a lot of people will ever need, and possibly even more than they require. Unfortunately I doubt that will help you out as, I'm almost certain that it's only available for Windows.
Thanks for correcting that. I've never used a Mac so I didn't know. I just Googled it and it appears that it's available for iPad too.
I looked at Gimp before and it seemed confusing to me, but if it is available for iPad, then maybe I can figure it out. I think that iPad usually makes things much easier to understand. Here is an old picture of my mom, taken back in the 1920's, and I added one of the easy frames to it.
No, Pat, I looked in the app store, and I didn't see an actual app for Gimp. I found one called paint FX,,, and bought that. I am still learning how to use it ; but it does some totally amazing things with pictures. I watched a few of the tutorials, and tried playing with one of the pictures that i have. So far, I really like it but I need to watch the videos over again so I can get it down better in my mind what does what. Here is one of the videos and it shows chaanging a picture from a stature in a park, to a very surreal looking painting.
Lately, I've been using Real World Paint. I don't do much editing, actually, but I use it to resize and add watermarks when I need or want to do so. I occasionally like to play around and totally change the colors and exposures, it can produce some interesting results. That's a great pic of your Mom, @Yvonne Smith. Real World Paint is also a free program, and I've found it really easy to use, so if anyone is interested, just do an internet search, and download it from whatever available site you deem reputable.
I don't think Gimp is available through the app store. It can be downloaded from its site though. Authors of free programs sometimes don't want to go through the hoops that Apple requires in order to be included in the App Store.
I actually use Gimp and I agree at first it seems like it might be a difficult program but once I started to use it I have to say that i actually like what you could do with it. Long ago there was a program that was similar that i liked called Paint Shop pro by JASC which later went on to become CorelDraw. i actually have Corel if I could manage to find the CD. So in the meantime I just wanted something to resize pictures and do some stuff and I am happy with Gimp, I think I have version 2. I tried to upload the picture but I guess it is still to big for here. Oh well
