    Hello Everyone.
I am putting my post here because not too sure where to join in.
I say this because I will be 88 in May and having survived the London Blitz during WW2 I am having many folks contacting me about that decade because I have written a book about the first 20 years of my life that takes in the war years and just curious to know if there are others here who remembers that grim era and all the changes that life has thrown at us.

Maisie, welcome to the forum. I didn't come along until 1951, and that was in the United States, so I wouldn't be one of them. We do have a number of people here from the UK however, although I am unsure about the ages of them, except that they are over fifty. I'll move this to the "Other Reminiscences" area, as I think that's a good place for it.

To answer the question posed by the title, no - of course you're not too old. There is such a thing as too young here, as we're all over fifty, but not too old. Thanks for posting, and welcome to the forum.

I have read several books and seen a lot of movies relating to the London Blitz, but I can't say that I can even imagine it.

Many thanks for getting back to me Ken.
It was a grim time to exist through during the 40s and it was when I broke my right hip and left arm at the age of 73 that my son asked me to write my memories down because he had already taught me how to use a computer. I could not knit or hold a book to read while recuperating and I was getting so frustrated with myself and bored.
Strangely enough since I wrote about those years it helped me to come to terms with many inner demons.
Since I wrote the book I have had many folks contacting me from worldwide who are interested in WW2 wanting to read it. I was just curious as to whether others here had lived through that era.

If you wrote a book about your experiences, you may post the title here, as well as a link to any webpage advertising it.

I'm the administrator and I'm giving you permission. Don't splatter it all over the place but you can post a link to the book here or in the Reading & Writing section, and you can post a link to your website in the Member Websites section. I hope you'll stick around and participate in forum discussions, though.

Heavens no @Maisie Walker, you are definitely NOT too old. The trouble is, there are not enough people who went through what you did who have the ability to convey what their personal experiences truthfully entailed. And, even if you had not gone through the Blitz, you are 20 years my senior and I generally do like to read or hear what I missed had I been born sooner.
Recorded history is good but to get an "Anne Frank" perspective, so to speak, is an entirely different experience indeed. We and the generations that follow us Need to have that one on one history lesson as opposed to a historians journalistic viewpoint.

There is such a difference between, "they went to their shelters" and "we went to our shelters".

Hello Maisie - I was born in London but fortunately didn't experience the Blitz
I have seen many documentaries and read about the Blitz in books that shook me to the core
Family tended not to speak of it
You've come through a lot Maisie and I would cherish your book, please give the info here
What part of London were you born ?

Do look at the site @Patsy Faye. To me, it's a history book with a lot of personality and research. I stayed locked into it for a couple of hours yesterday.
