Not to be nosy, but its interesting to know where a member is from while reading their posts. Especially when a member is posting something like :

"It's 10 degrees and blizzard conditions here....".

It would be nice to know where. Maybe I'm missing something?
    Thanks.

@Ruby Begonia , if you look at a person's profile page under "information", many of us have put some info about our location, and a little more about ourselves. Since it is not required to do so, each person decides what (if anything) that they want to share with the rest of us.
I also think that it is great to know where people live, and it directly relates to many posts, like weather and even gardening and outdoor activities.

There is also a specific thread under the "Places I have lived" sub-forum that asks where each person is from, and many of us have also posted there. It is called something like "What part of the country, or what country, are you from".

Thanks Yvonne. I agree we should not be required to state where we are. I thought though, it would be easier to see it right on our avatars without having to go into each profile. Just a thought and thanks for reply! :)

Yes, there is a place for that information, and I could require it, but I wouldn't have any way of knowing whether or not it was accurate, and I'd rather not require such information anyhow. While I've never had any problem being me online, there are those who have privacy concerns.

@Ruby Begonia, I too wonder where a person might be located when I read their posts, especailly if they are in another country. Where a person is from tells us much about them. When I am sweating in 101 tempratures, and someone starts talking about being cold, my brain immediately goes, "Where is this person?".

When I post on threads like the "Good Morning" one, for example, I usually put something like "here on the east coast of Scotland" if I'm mentioning the weather or temperature.

I also try to add that I am in northern Alabama when I post something about weather, or anything that involves the climate or location. I also have that information in my forum profile. I know that it is not as easy to find there; but at least if people want to know more about me, there is information there. I will see if I can add it to my sig, too.
