Edit: I think I figured it out..

Click the little place on the top of the page with your name, where messages and alerts are displayed. It will open up the box that shows everything, and look for preferences. There is a place there to turn off the email notices.
You can also set the alerts that you do or do not want to receive from there, under alert preferences.

When I get a chance, I'll look to see if there is a way for me to turn email notifications off as a default for the forum, so if anyone wants them, they can turn them on. I could be wrong, but I'm thinking that more people don't want them than do, and I certainly have no reason to want to annoy anyone.

in Preferences: uncheck the box for the "and receive email notifications of replies" in big type there, below

    • Automatically watch threads that you create or when you reply...
      • and receive email notifications of replies
    • Use the rich text editor to create and edit messages
    • Use the Flash-based uploader to upload attachments
    • Show people's signatures with their messages
    • Show your online status

This will allow other people to see when you are online.
      • Show your current activity
This will allow other people to see what page you are currently viewing.

Hey thanks for the information. Like you I get saturated with e-mails in my junk folder too. One day I took time to go to each one and unsubscribed which took way over half an hour, but I still get junk mail. It just gnaws at me if they're important or not and I just don't have time to look and just automatically delete them with the trashcan click at yahoo. I'll check in my email systems to see how it can be done. Thanks for the tip! :p

Thanks @Ken N Louis. Meanwhile, I have turned off email notifications as a default, although I don't think that changes anything for currently registered members. Anyone who registers from this point on, who wants email notifications, can turn them on in their preferences.

Well it sunday and im still getting email notifications but also I think I played a lot of games yesterday so may not have all the notifications in yet.. even though I disabled most all of them ,is what I clicked on anyway..

Im going to take a stab at it too, Ruby, I have been clicking where it says disable this email and or disable all email. and I'm still getting emails ,,

but have not done what he has suggested with that picture yet. ..about to do it now.. then will wait to see what happens..

Hi Ruby not sure if you sorted out the email issue, but if you haven't what I found was that I was still getting emails from previous threads I watched, so you need to turn off each one in turn as far as I can see. Select a watched thread and go to the bottom, click more options

    1.jpg
then you get this, where you can untick the box, this stopped them all for me.

Ken has changed this on new threads to default unticked, but this had left me receiving emails from all the old ones, and the box in general options doesn't seem to affect these old threads.
