    Here's the latest from DM....

REVEALED: Texas shooter sent 'threatening texts' to his mother-in-law, who attended church where he massacred 26 people before calling his father to say goodbye before committing suicide
    • Officials say Devin Patrick Kelley was in a domestic dispute with his mother-in-law Michelle Shields, who attended First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas
    • At an afternoon press conference, it was revealed that Kelley sent 'threatening texts' to his mother-in-law
    • Officials wouldn't go into further details about the family fight
    • Wilson County Sheriff Joe Tackett said that Kelley and his wife Danielle were estranged
    • Danielle used to work as a teacher at the church, her mother is friends with the pastor's wife on social media
    • Records show they were married in April 2014, when Kelley was 23 and his bride was 19
    • He was also married at least once before, to a Tessa K Kelley
    • The couple divorced in 2012, the same year he was court-martialed for domestic violence
    • After killing 26 in the church on Sunday, Kelley fled in his car and was found dead behind the wheel
    • The official cause of death is pending, but officials believe he committed suicide by gun
    • Before killing himself, he called his father and said he didn't think he was going to make it, officials said

I saw the Facebook page. Now they're saying that it was a fake Facebook page put up after the shooting, which may be. I don't know. If it was an Antifa thing, the media isn't going to want to let us know that, and Snopes wouldn't attribute it to Antifa unless he had signed orders on Antifa letterhead. The left, which means the media, is going to want to go with the gun control angle and, since Antifa are the media's darlings, they are not going to go there unless proof of it comes out without them. You can be sure that if he had ever once even attended anything that they could attribute to right-wing, no proof would be needed - that's where they'd go.

Whenever something like this occurs, I am sure that there are more than one thing in play. Reasonable people may not understand the motives of these people because they are not reasonable people, but there are motives. However, there are probably multiple motives.

Even when there is proof of involvement with ISIS, BLM, KKK, Antifa, or some other terrorist group, I doubt that answers all the questions. People don't carry out crazy plots to kill innocent people if everything else is going well with their lives. Probably there is mental illness involved, or anger, reasonable or otherwise. Sometimes, these are people who don't see any reason to live anymore and the lure of going out with their own Wikipedia page might play into it.

There is a question that has been in my mind all day. I'm sure it has been on the mind of others, too, but they haven't had the nerve to ask.

Where was God when this happened in his house?

These people were gathered there with their hearts full of love for him, worshipping him, and singing his praise. Then this gunman came in and butchered them like pigs. Why didn't God stop him? He could have more easily than I can twitch my little finger. But he didn't. Why?

God didn't promise to keep us safe and happy here on earth. He certainly didn't promise that to Christ's apostles.

Yes, they have sadly found the motive. I just heard in the news briefing being carried by both CNN and Fox that he appears to have been shot twice by the citizen or citizens and one self inflicted.

He had a history of violence.

I agree @Chrissy Cross the spin is going full force. I think it was Lars Larson however that I heard on the radio driving home from work. He's trying to blame this on the Obama administration somehow. I can't remember his exact spin, but I think it had to do with the fact that his military discharge was not reported to the FBI. Don't know how that happened and he was stating "poor training" but not only was he putting down Obama (fine, go for it) but I thought he was disrespectful to military personal which I'm sure wasn't his intention.

Now there is talk of putting our clergymen through defensive training, and the proper certification to carry and use guns in our churches. It’s not just churches anymore. As we’ve seen, it can be any occasion that draws large crowds. Look what happened in California recently.

It seems the shooters in each case see themselves as getting a place in history.

In this country as in many, these mentally ill people seem to see these kinds of atrocities as something to be proud of. This has gone way past hero infatuations, and in today’s world, these people seem to think of themselves as avengers, or as God,

In 1993, my family had to go through all these questions when our oldest 27year old son was murdered. He had just come off the plane still in his Army Ranger uniform, when he was taken to a neighborhood BBQ, none of us knew the shooter,

I don’t know if guns are the answers, but all gatherings are dangerous in today’s world, and churches are a known gathering places these criminals feel powerful

The Texas Attorney General has urged more folks possessing carry permits to carry their concealed weapons with them when they attend church.

Interesting. Gotta fight bullets with bullets, the reality is. When a mental derelict like Kelley goes on such a rampage, he undoubtedly is lavishing himself with self-praise and feels proud of his "guts". Few such misfits ever shoot at police cars, though.

We have never been to a church that had a fully uniformed officer in the congregation, until we moved here. He was a motorcycle officer and was also in a Bible Study we were in. We had never seen anyone/anywhere carrying a weapon on them inside a church.

So hard not to be heavy hearted with all the news about the church shooting. It does not matter, where, or whom, or how -anything of this magnitude
can be very stressful and overwhelming even for the general public.
Seems as a nation was just trying to wrap our heads around the Las Vegas shooting, and now another massacre takes over. I can not but feel this will become commonplace. There is no safe place to go or hide. At one time, when crime became bad in area, especially large cities, one would pack up and move to a smaller quieter place to live. Well, that desire has been extinguished.
Hate is the biggest killer of all.

Concerning having a concealed weapon.......a woman in Colorado Springs, CO, who, 10 years ago, stopped a gunman who had opened fired on a church's parking lot there. Two sister's were killed. At the time, the woman was a police officer and volunteering as a security guard for the church that day. She heard the shots, stepped out into the parking lot and announced she was a police officer and "drop you weapon". The man turned around and pointed his AR15 at her and, before the guy could pull the trigger, she fired the first five rounds very rapidly and knocked him on his back. This happened in 2007.

To everyone she was a hero, but she states that "there's a difference between carrying a gun and knowing how to use it in an active shooter situation. I believe in the Second Amendment, I also believe in putting trained people in place, because, just like the Walmart situation (shooting in Thornton, CO) there were some people that were armed in the store, but they didn't know what to do."

She thanks the Lord for her training and that she able to stop the guy from entering the church and more casualties could have happened.

So, the key word in this story is........training! People can carry a concealed weapon, but when it comes down to actually pulling the gun out of the holster, pulling the trigger/shooting someone, could they do it?

I don't think I've ever seen someone besides a police officer with a gun..except my husband. I just don't pay attention.

I don't have very strong feelings about either side of the gun issue. It's one of those things that I can live with whatever the law.

So, what I'm trying to say is I'm neither pro or anti gun.

Gloria, just because it happened in this small town, doesn't mean that every small town isn't safe to live in. There are small towns in Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, the Dakotas and other states, that are very safe to live in.
The Sheriff of this town still doesn't believe this was a random shooting. The shooter somehow knew the church and made it his target.
