Well @Cody Fousnaugh of course there are going to be all those things in a Wildlife preserve. I wouldn't advise anyone to go off canoeing by theirselves, especially if they are not familiar with Lake Martin. Pack and Paddle does lead a canoe, etc. tour through Lake Martin and I haven't heard of anyone getting bit, etc. yet. :)

We’re not from the southern states. We’d be use to a mountain wildlife preserve. The kind that would have deer, bald eagles, elk and The such in it.

Guess we don’t make good “Southerners”.

Louisiana has lots of swamp land and many of the lakes over here have beautiful cypress trees, etc. We also have lots of alligators, turtles, snakes, birds, etc. that love this kind of environment. It is their natural habitat and although lots of progress has been made in Louisiana...we also have done our best to keep the natural habitats of things that are native to Louisiana. Many people are interested in "touring" these natural habitats...for others the cajun food, Festivals, Mardi Gras, etc. might be more to their liking. There's a little bit of everything here for those who want to visit. We do even have beaches...but don't expect them to look like Florida's. :)

I don’t think there is a way, without starting a new Thread, to tell all the members about a certain photo that has been put onto a Thread.
A photo of me, in my costume, is on the Halloween Fun Thread.

    For those that look, “thanks”.

Good morning everyone. Today I have an appt to get results of my eye test yesterday. This makes me angry. Why do I need two appts?

I hate where his office is located...it's not far but in one of the busiest areas in town, right across from St. Agnes hospital. Takes 5 minutes to just get out of the parking lot. Pain in the butt! His office is in a huge building so I guess he needs the extra income. :)

No wonder health care is such a mess. Can only imagine what my ins is paying for these two visits.

At least after this I have the weekend off, then Tuesday I have physical therapy, Wednesday a mammogram, thurs. PT again. It's like I have a job, lol.

At least our temps are nice. Upper 60's!

Was going to change to warmer sheets but might be too soon. I was hot last night.

Good Morning. :) Today I'm going to share some of the Museums we have here in our City.

The home our First Governor lived in is a Museum filled with furnishings of that era.

We have an interesting Art Museum located on our University's Campus The Art of the Past is housed in the Antebellum home while new art and showings are in the modern glass building.

Our Children's Museum and Science Museum is fun for those of all ages. :)

Lafayette, LA is home to me, but it's also a nice place to visit with something going on most of the time and good food to eat all the time. :)

Know where you're coming from with the healthcare mess. We got a letter on Wed. from my wife's doctor's referral department stating that she has not yet made an appt. with a Hand Surgeon about the pain in her thumb. Well, she has been to seen him twice and got a cortisone shot in the thumb and one in a finger that was giving her some pain as well. No surgery is need for either. So, what happened? Well, the Receptionist for the Hand Surgeon never called the referral department back to tell them that she'd been there. I called and told the referral department yesterday and they told me the call from the Hand Surgeon office is only a "courtesy call", meaning it's not a requirement to call the doctor's referral department and let them know.

I had the same happen to me after a doctor referred me to get a hearing test. I got the test, but that office never called my Dr.'s referral department to let them know I had been there and got the hearing test. We got a letter for me saying that I hadn't made an appt. yet for a hearing test. Well, I had and the test was done.

AND.........I had an eye exam done last month and will get getting both new lenses and frames. Got a message last two weeks ago that the lenses were on backorder. Ok. Called this past Wed and was told the new lenses came in that morning and I'd get a call that afternoon on when to pick them up. No Call! Called yesterday and was told they are ready for pickup. Later on, got a call from the office stating I could pick up the new glasses, but the "transition" (brown/sunglasses) part hadn't been done. So, the company will make me new lenses, but I can pickup the ones that are there. When the new lenses come in, the other new lenses will be replaced. So, with the new glasses, I have to sunglasses when the sun is out.........until the new "replacement" lenses come in.

One word covers all of this.........GESSSSSSSSSSH!!

Yep @Cody Fousnaugh and it seems like it's never ending.

My dr a few visits ago told me I blew off a mammogram last July. I was surprised because nobody said I had one...no appt, no calls, no confirmation text or email or call...nothing!!

I'm very OCD about appts and things like that so there is no chance that I blew it off. It was never made and if it was nobody informed me about it and I'm 100% sure of that.

Good morning it's 9 am and I slept reasonably well though I feel like I have a sniffly cold, which is a result of the flu jab I had on Thursday think. The morning is damp after some rain earlier, the forecast is for sun later though.

I am going to my daughter Caroline's later this afternoon for a chat and to look at my granddaughter Elizabeth's bedroom which needs a makeover, it seems like only yesterday that I did it, but it was 6 years ago.

I came across this Danish painter which I didn't know and liked his works, he died 5 days after I was born, not that that means anything, except I couldn't be his re-incarnation [IMG]

I like the way he uses light, and the sense of presence he achieves.....

    Peder Mørk Mønsted

His father was a well-to-do shipbuilder. At an early age, he began to receive painting lessons at the art school in Aarhus and, from 1875 to 1879, studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts with Niels Simonsen and Julius Exner. In 1882, he spent some time in Rome and Capri then, the following year, visited Paris, where he worked in the studios of William Adolphe Bouguereau.

In 1889, he went to Algeria. Three years later, he travelled to Greece, where he was a guest of King George I, who was Danish. While there, he also did portraits of the Royal Family. After that, he visited Egypt and Spain.

His travels produced numerous sketches that became paintings he presented at several international exhibitions. Most of his landscapes were, however, devoted to Scandinavia. He was especially popular in Germany, where he held several shows at the Glaspalast in Munich. During his later years, he spent a great deal of time in Switzerland and travelling throughout the Mediterranean. Most of his works are in private collections. In 1995, a major retrospective, called "Light of the North", was held in Frankfurt am Main.

Good Morning, Here in our City we have 3 Centers for us Senior Citizens. The Green House, The Art Studio, and The RoseHouse. Membership is free and all kinds of classes and activities are offered.

My Aunt and Uncle when they retired were always attending things at these places and they enjoyed trying things they did not have time for while raising a family and working.

These Centers are not just places where you can learn new things...they are also a good place to make new friends too.

Good morning! I have a few days off from PT and any tests, yay. Weather is beautiful.

A message popped up on my dashboard in my car that said "change oil soon" yikes.

How long do I have? Anybody know?

I'd like to make It until I go to my daughter's for thanksgiving but don't think I will...darn, I always do my oil change there. :(

Ive been negligent because I haven't visited her as often and never got around to my car. :(
