Richard I see the photos just fine. What type of flowers are they? What were you going to share about them?

I am trying to figure this out. I am not seeing them either, and I am thinking that it won't display photos stored in Dropbox.

@Von Jones , are you saying that the photos are visible to you?

I believe the problem has to do with the "dl=0" after the JPG since it's looking for an image that would end in .jpg or .png or another format -- but, since I've never tried displaying an image through Dropbox, I don't know what the work-around is, or if there is one.

There are several free image hosting sites available, such as Photobucket.com. Here is one of your images that I just stored on Photobucket.com as a test:

There are other free image hosting sites too. I use one of my own domains for that so I haven't used them. Perhaps someone else can recommend an image hosting site, or knows a way to refer directly to an image stored in Dropbox.

Yep. I didn't click on the picture box though. I clicked on the link.

Ah, okay. You shouldn't have to click on anything. I believe it's not displaying them because the URL ends with a dl=0 rather than with .jpg and, since I've never tried to do that with Dropbox, I don't know if there is a way to link to a photo in Dropbox directly.

Can't the the dl=0 be changed to .jpg and then saved before posting?

I tried removing the dl=0 but it wouldn't display that way. There may be a way to do it, but it would have to be through Dropbox. I don't let anyone into my Dropbox so I've never tried to use it to host images for others to view. If I get a chance, I'll see if I can figure out how to do that through Dropbox.

I have photos stored online in both Flickr and web albums, which is the iPad version of Picasa. If I want to post a photo from one of those storage areas, I download it into my photostream on the ipad and then just use the "add file" choice on the post.
I think the same thing would work with dropbox. You would just download the picture that you want to share on the post to your computer or tablet, and then upload it again from there to the forum.

Duh!!! And I thought this thread would help me. I am a total klutz when it comes to thecnology. Whatever you brainiacs said makes no sense to me. Maybe I should find a few computer courses before I look into any of the art courses I'm thinking about..

Ina, you don't have any pictures stored in a dropbox; so none of this should affect you at all, when it comes to uploading pictures to this forum.
After you write a post, at the bottom, it says "upload a file" (in grey). Choose that, and it will take you to a little box that also says "upload a file" and a little outlined area to click.
That will take you to your photo stream/camera roll. Then, you just choose the picture that you want to put in the post and submit the post.
You will also have a choice between thumbnail and full size, and usually full size is best.
The iPad simplifies this process so much that it is hard to even remember all of the things we had to do to upload on a regular computer.
PS If you are going to put a picture in your avatar, then click on your name in the far right hand upper corner of the page, choose avatar, and then use the same "choose file" procedure for the avatar.

Adding it as a file is another way that it could be done, although I've never done it that way. @Richard Paradon was trying to display the photo through the "image" link, which is how I generally do it, but that requires that the URL end in an image file designation, such as .jpg, .png, etc. so the "dl=0" was messing it up.

@von-jones I was using them as a sample. I have no idea what they are. They just grow wild in the courtyard.
    @Admin @Ken Anderson @Yvonne Smith

Thanks to everyone for you help! I used Photobucket and as you can see from my "Sailing" post, it works just fine!

Hey it worked Yvonne, but you know me, if i can mess it up, I will when it comes to something technical. The original pic has a head. So what now? I guess I need a device that would allow me to type in a question on how to do things, and it would give me quick and easy ways to follow. Oh yea, that would be you in my hip pocket. I sure am glad you like me. ((hugs))
