I was going to post this in the fantasy section but there is no fantasy section, so listen up. Hear goes.
I hope I don't offend anyone but I am thinking of making some changes to the universe. I have recently been given charge of the West and everything in the west and under the Milky Way, with the authority to define what the west is and set it's boundaries. Therefore I have given this some thought. Where does the West began? If you, any of you, stand and face the North, anything on a line from the ground by your left foot up to the Milky Way and everything left of this line is the West. I know there is a sign in Texas that reads: Ft. Worth, where the West begins. That was basically correct until recently when a change was made by the Great change-maker. Now I'm in charge.

I know some of you wear jeans and a western hat and may even wear those western boots if your old feet will hold up to it. And you think you know all about the West. Let me state forcefully right now, the West is a state of mind. And everybody wears jeans today, those with the right state of mind. Here are a few things that have somewhat bugged me sometime in the past. If it bugs me once once that's no big deal but bugging me time and again is a no-no. These things have bugged me time and again and have decided they will be no more. Here they are.

I don't like bull fighting. It is cancelled.

This annual event, running with the bulls is also a no-no. No more.

Rodeos can be a lot of fun if you go in for this sort of thing. But there will be no more bull riding. Wild bronc riding is ok but bull riding is out. If you're a wild bull rider, find another occupation.

    Boxing.

Professional Football. If you want to play football in college for whatever rah-rah you can get out of it, well and good. But you'd better major in something that might help you earn a working living but it won't be playing pro ball. Jerry Jones will also have to find another to earn his millions.

That's it for now, but I'm still thinking, thinking, thinking! I'll now entertain comments and questions.

    Well, @Bill Boggs.........

We have, but currently don't wear, cowboy hats. Have both straw and felt type, but they aren't the "Redneck" type that are really bent up. They are the real Wyoming type hats.

We have cowboy boots, but (again) don't currently wear. They aren't the "pointed" type. We wear the "Roper" type that lace up in the front. Very comfortable and I use to wear when I was involved in rodeo.

We wear, in the winter time here, Wrangler jeans. Notice the brand, "Wrangler" w/the leather patch on the rear pocket that says "Wrangler". The brand of jeans worn in rodeo and by Sam Elliott in some of his movies.

We love rodeo action and that's one of the reasons we are leaving Florida. Unlike Colorado, Wyoming and some other states, Florida isn't a "rodeo" state.

We know, understand and like Bull Riding, but I was a "Timed-Event" cowboy, not "roughstock". Bull Riding will never stop.

Professional football (NFL).........don't even think that's going to end. Just isn't going to happen. We love it.

I know a lot about "The Old West", as well as the "Indian Wars". You name them........Wild Bill Hickok, Buffalo Bill Cody, General Custer, Annie Oakley, Sioux Chief Sitting Bull, Chief Red Cloud and so on and so on.

Good points. I'll take them into consideration before I issue my edict.
Everybody wears wranglers. You know why men like them? If you
wear a size 36 you can wear a size 34 wrangler. And they're more
comfortable. Even I have several pair hanging in my closet. I may have
to put up a sign on the front of my closet, "Sam Elliott wears Wrangler,"
just to remind me of his name. I can never remember it.
"Go West, young man, go west" The American West, it's a state of mind,
    And therefore will last forever.

Fantasy would be a good fit in the Tall Tales & Fabrications section.

My oldest grandson partly paid his way through college riding bulls and being a rodeo clown. He started in high school and I didn't even know they had such a thing in Ky and the idea of college scholarships was beyond my comprehension.

Really? And here I was thinking it was a dead sport. Who would have thunk it. Well it seems some liked it, others have found it useful, and I hear no voice to the contrary; the ban is nearby lifted.

Pro football needs more thinking. Most brains are already bashed by the time they turn pro anyhow. I will get back to that.

I didn't know, until I got involved in the sport, that there are high schools in Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, the Dakota's, Kansas, Nebraska, Texas and Oklahoma that give fully paid scholarships to college to cowboys and cowgirls that participate in rodeo for the school. Heck, there is even Little Britches and Jr. Rodeo for those kids that are interested before they even get into high school. There are tv networks that cover high school and college rodeos and their Finals.

My rodeo career started in the mid 80's. After talking to a PRCA Saddle Bronc Rider I knew, and him giving me a rope (lasso or lariat to you folks) and showing me how to use it, he told me to forget about roughstock riding (bulls and broncs) and take up roping. So, went to a Roping School in Norco, CA. and after that I was chasing down steers in an arena. Back then I had my own horse (Quarter Horse), ropes and tack. I loved it and my wife loved seeing me rope. Told me "Honey, you look hot in those Wrangler jeans holding a rope, sitting in a saddle and on a horse." Never thought I was "that", but she sure liked what she seen. LOL

The largest rodeo association is PRCA aka Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, headquarter in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

@Shirley Martin Well behold and lo. Wrangler and Lee made what Wrangler called an executive jean made of polyester. Had a sharp crease. I have on a pair now. I have send to work in them. They looked great, traveled well, looks gayer weight than the denim Jean. Went well with a sport jacket and tie or any oth r kind of jacket if you wanted to casual down. Well, I'm sure you'll look good in what ever you wear.

I see no reason why the uniform of the day should not be wrangler.
