Today is the first day of a new season in our married life. From this day forth my husband will no longer be driving our car...or any other car for that matter. We both have been slowly weaning off of things to prepare for today. He has been driving less and less, while I have been doing more of the driving and filling the gas tank on my own, etc.

Losing his central vision is happening much faster than we thought it would but I am proud of the way my husband is handling this change in his life that will affect both of our lives in ways we don't even know of at this point. I love him so much I wish I could change this for him...I can't do that....but what I can and will do is be by his side every step of the way and be the helpmate to him that God made me to be.

Glad you're working it out, that's what's important. There will always be a monkey wrench thrown into our life at any given time....you have to figure on a plan B or even C.

My husband was bed ridden the last year of his life so not only did I have to drive I had to physically get him in the car and his wheelchair or scooter into the trunk.

All this took awhile and I would have much better liked leaving him at home at times but that was the easy way out.

Wheelchair wasn't so bad but that scooter killed me. It came apart but only into 2-3 sections and was still a big pain.

Good luck to both of you on this journey! Not easy but doable. Also hope your husband's MD progresses slowly.

Dear Diary, Last night I had the strangest dream. I dreamt that I got a grant from the Government and bought the home I grew up in since I was 12 years old, and turned it into a home for unwed mothers.

While the dream itself was strange, the idea is really a good one as our old home is going to be for sale and it's large enough and has enough property to it that it would make a find home for unwed mothers who need help and a place to stay during their pregnancy and after their babies come too. And the best part to me is what a tribute that would be to my Mom since she loved all babies just as much as I do.:)

When I woke up I was so excited about that dream that I started thinking about what all it would take to do this. Plus in my head I was arranging the rooms to see how many unwed mothers and children could live there at one time. I came up with 5 or 6 at the most depending on whether whoever runs the place would be living on site too. I wouldn't mind running the place with my Honey, but I'm not sure if at my age I would be up to this. Since the dream came to me though...I'm going to pray about this idea in case this is not just a dream but a way God would like us to serve Him or put our old home to good use.

I have to laugh though, because the night before this dream I dreamed I was over at my youngest daughter's new home and while the kids were playing around us she told me they were having another baby, then she patted her tiny stomach and told me she was about six weeks pregnant. When I told my daughter that when she picked up my 3 year old granddaughter from us yesterday, she did not freak out...but told me she didn't think that would happen. I reminded her that all my pregnancy and baby dreams have pretty much come true and that even though I was old and didn't have much energy these days...I still would be thankful for as many grandkids as the Lord blessed us with. She smiled and told me that she didn't plan on this happening but if it did happen she would thank Him too. :)

Do they still have homes for unwed mothers? Haven't heard about them since I was young.

As much as I would love a granddaughter, it's not going to happen and I'm kind of happy about that. I don't have the energy to watch a baby anymore.

When I'm asked to watch my grandsons, it's easier now...well almost. The 3 youngest boys are still a handful if I have to watch them 24/7 for a few days. :)

Yes, actually they do Chrissy depending where you live. There are always places that help unwed mothers so they don't feel they have to have an abortion, or they don't have a place to live or money to support theirselves while they are pregnant, etc.

@Babs Hunt , maybe this is God's way of curing him of his alcoholism and smoking. He can't go get them so he can't drink or smoke. God does work in mysterious ways.

I knew there were places that helped unwed mothers but didn't think it was a home like back when I was in HS.

Then even if you lived at home and got pregnant you'd be shipped off to a home so nobody would know what happened, obviously some story would be made up why you were missing in school etc.

It was an embarrassment back then, not so much these days.

I only knew two girls in a school of 4,000 that got pregnant while in school.

Over here it more like a house home...and the girls often hold jobs if they are well enough, etc. They are not hidden away like in the "dark ages" and it is not just young women who stay in these homes either.

Shirley, I have a wonderful husband in spite of his alcoholism and smoking and though I have asked God to free him from his addictions for health reasons, neither God or I want to force him into freedom. He works at a store part time that sells these things and even when he stops working I will take him to the store. He's a grown man and as long as he does not abuse me and he pays the bills before buying his beer and cigarettes he has a right to make his own choices in this. We set the boundaries he can't cross with his addictions a long time ago and our marriage works just fine for both of us. I want him to be free of these addictions because he wants to be, not because he is forced into this. And even if he never is set free until he leaves this earthly life I will still love him just as much as I do now. And I believe God will too.

Dear Diary, Why is it when you have things to do...you just don't feel like doing them? Today I think the reason I'm having a hard time getting started is because I'm stressed about finding out tomorrow whether my husband has prostrate cancer or not. I sure hope we get good news tomorrow about this.

Lately life sure has been throwing alot of stressful things all at one time at us and even though I know seasons of life are sometimes like this and this to shall pass....it seems as we have gotten older these things all coming at one time are just harder to wade through.

We're blessed that we know we do not walk alone through these things and thankful that no matter what news we face tomorrow...our Lord will be right there with us with everything we need.

Dear Diary, Well I sure didn't get much sleep last night, finally gave us trying around 4:30am and got up and made coffee. I know it was because I'm a little anxious about what my Husband's Urologist will tell us today but even with a little anxiety (which I am prong to) there is peace in my heart.

It was funny watching my Honey "play" with our new toy Puppy last night and even funnier when I got up during the night and found him sleeping with it on the couch. Does this man need a real dog or what? I have been feeling more and more in my heart that with his vision loss he does need a pet who can be with him when I'm not around and that we both can enjoy when we're both here. Sometimes we just have to stop out in faith and go for the things we feel a need for and just trust that any problems will work themselves out. I think I have gotten to that point now and will begin a search on PAWS...is that the place @Yvonne Smith? and find our real Puppy. It's time.

It's going to be a good day for us....and it is already because after I drank my coffee and drank my sweet treat, I dyed my roots that was really showing alot of gray hairs. I have nothing personal against gray hair...I'm just not ready to go full gray at this time. So I took care of that little problem real quick this morning. I love those touch up roots kits that Clairol makes, they are so easy to use and match the color of the rest of your hair just fine. :)
