This is a big sinkhole on the main road to the Kroger's market my daughter shopped at.

Thanks Shirley.... I'm really worried about @Ina I Wonder and some family and friends we have in Houston. And I am so thankful my daughter and her family got moved back here before all this happened. They will probably lose all there home furnishings since that is still sitting in a warehouse in Houston at this time....but if they do...that's a small price to pay for being safe and away from all that flooding.

They might have lost both the house and the furniture if they had not moved, Babs. I remember you telling us about everything being flooded last time, and they are saying that this is a "500 year flood", and worse than any on record. Oh......I think that was your other daughter that got flooded out, not the Texas one.
Anyway, I am thankful that they are safe where you are.

I just heard from Ina, she said the water is up to her door, and she is very scared because in all of the years she has lived there, it has never been that high before. She said she still has power, at least most of the time, and she is keeping the batteries charged on her phone and iPad.
She said she called for rescue; but she is not in the city limits, and she does not know if they can get her out tonight, and the water is still coming up higher.
Keep the prayers going for her !

Here is the latest update on the weather and storm systems . It looks like this is going to cause flooding in East Texas for another week.
There is also the storm that might be a developing hurricane that is headed up the Eastern Seaboard. By the time that storm goes through and floods the Atlantic coastline, then the remains of Harvey will possibly be coming east over the same states and flood them again, too.
This is really turning into a catastrophic flood .

Well friends it is 1:34am, and we are still here. I can't believe we still have power. But my TV has gone off, so I can't tell what is happening now. I'm so scared, and I just can't sleep. I want to thank all of you for your prayers. Please keep the prayers going. So many people are homeless now, and I feel badly about being so concerned about my own problems.

I am praying for myself and those depending on this old place to shelter us. If any of you can keep me appraised of what is happening, it would help so much.

I'll try to get back to post when the sun comes up, if at all possible. I love each of you, and I want to say thank you now in case I can't get back to you for awhile.

Yes Yvonne it was my middle daughter here in Lafayette, LA who's home got flooded last year around this time. Her home has been totally renovated and that is where my daughter and her family from Texas have been staying.

There was a couple of times though when I was at their Texas home that Houston and much of my daughter's neighborhood got flooded. But this is the worst time and reminds me to much of when Katrina hit New Orleans. We just all need to keep prayers going for @Ina I. Wonder and her family and everyone else caught in the midst of this terrible storm.

I've never been so frightened in my life, except maybe in the ambulance taking Michael to the emergency room when he died. My grandson wants out of here, but I think we are better off than most around here. The water is about 2 or 3 inches from the door, and my yard is at least 3 feet deep.

One of the men staying here tried to save his vehicles, but we ended up having to get one of the 18 wheel drivers to go find him. They found him around 11:00pm, alive.

Now that there is daylight I'm sure the rescues will begin again in earnest.

Now here in Louisiana we are seeing rain and Tornado warnings since yesterday afternoon. Although we will have nothing like Houston has gotten...we still may get enough rain to flood homes, etc. once again...and we will all continue to pray this will not be the case. As it is my daughter's family has probably lost all their home furnishings which is being stored in Houston until the Movers could get it here.

So since my daughter and her husband do not know if they will have anything to move into their new home they have decided to go ahead and move into their new home today. Her mother-in-law brought an extra bed they had over to their home, and they bought a new mattress for our granddaughter...while our baby grandson will sleep in his pack and play. I am contributing our bedroom flatscreen and vcr/dvd player plus the children's tapes and discs I have so the kids will have something to watch too. There is already a couch and chair there that they bought from the precious owners and a few other things too. All appliances are there as far as I know too. We will all just share whatever they need with them until they know what is what here. My daughter will be picking me up to help with the kids and get things straightened in their home this afternoon.

I called my husband's Urologist's Office this morning and rescheduled his biopsy from this Thursday to the 21st of September since no one is sure when the heavy rains will be finished and I do not want to worry about having to drive thru these conditions...plus if we do have flooding...we may not be able to get out of our subdivision.

@Ina I. Wonder I hope you will update us on your status if you can. Still sending prayers up for all of you.
