I don't have any carpeting, because I had Mexican Saltillo Tile installed in every room and closets, the patio, carport, and a storage room off the patio. I like carpeting, it's just easier for me to not have it. I have two dogs that shed all year long and blow their coats twice a year.

For me, the best way to keep my house clean, is to vacuum on Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday. On Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday I use a carpet sweeper that picks up the dog fur really well.

The vacuum I buy is very inexpensive but works really well. It's called a Dirt Devil Dynamite, and is lightweight and bagless.

So how often do you run the vacuum to clean house or your apartment?

Do you dust first and then vacuum, or vice versa? I was taught to dust first because the dust falls to the ground and the vacuum will pick it up. But, I know people who vacuum and then dust.

Vacuuming my carpets. Let's see.........I really have to think about that one! There's the hallway, 2 closets.....

Say!!!! Speaking of vacumming, did I ever tell you guys about the time I accidentally went over my drill sergeant's finely spit polished toe of his boot with the floor buffer? Well, we were all new recruits and...uh....oh yeah....I digress.

3 bedrooms, the living room, bathroom, no...the bathroom is tile, the.......

Say!!!! Speaking of vacumming, did I ever tell you guys the time I took an old vacuum cleaner apart and turned it into a shoe polisher using the spinning brush and .....uh....oh yeah......again, I digress.

Then there's the kitchen of course, which isn't carpeting but just the same I suppose it could.......

Say!!! Speaking of vacuuming, did I ever tell you guys how you can easily turn a vacuum cleaner into a compressor for a spray gun? Kirby already has an attachment but any old vacuum cleaner....uh...oh yeah....do forgive, I digress.

We're talking about how often I vacuum the floors. I'm trying to count but to tell the truth if I told ya'll I'd be in trouble. My wife won't let me get near the new vacuum cleaner!!

I like the worn carpet though Ike. Especially when there are a few loose threads along the sides. When the cleaner goes over it the loose threads wind around the beater brush.
If ya get enough of the carpet unspun without breaking, the old thread can be used for a nifty chalk line or used for a macrame project.

About once a week for the carpeted areas with the big Hoover, every other day for the small kitchen, hall & bath with the tile floors using the little electric sweeper..

We have dogs inside the house so it is mandatory to clean the house everyday. Mopping the floor with wet mophead in the morning and in the afternoon takes care of the loose fur and other dirt particularly dust. But the floor is swept with a broom before mopping. During weekends, we sometimes (not always) use the vacuum to clean the nook and cranny of the house. We never use floor wax because that is against the rules of pet lovers. But we use soap to cleanse the floor on occasions.

It takes me too long to vacuum these days. So, I broke down and hired a part time maid. She only works a few hours a week for me. When she says move, so I can clean, you better move. She's a keeper though.

Lol, I didnt get your picture when I first woke up, Lara....just came back to this post two hrs later and now I get it.

I have mix of wood floors, carpet and tile in my house and I dont really have a set schedule of when and how often I do things. Depends how much Im home. I'm never home for a whole month at a time so everything varies for me.

Except for dust and dog hair my house doesnt get really dirty...I live alone and am pretty clean.

We run the vacuum every day. But than we are one of those houses that still has wall to wall carpeting. Yes, I know that this is a bit of an outdated concept. These days seems to be about getting rid of carpet and having natural flooring. But take my word on this with our foundation and cracking under the carpeting it might be a good idea to still have it down.

We only run ours about twice a week. That's because the piece of crap stops up every time we use it, due to the dog and cat hair! :D I used to have a Rainbow, but it's sitting in my closet broken, :( so now I just have some cheap thing. I don't have any carpet, so I normally use a microfiber sweeper and a mop to clean my floors.

No carpeting; we tore several layers out when we bought the house, and found nice hardwood floors. I use a mini-vac on the cat trees once in a while.

When living with Caroline my eldest daughter who is a tad ocd, she would often vacuum a couple of times a day, but now living with my other daughter Cathy, who is more easy going its a couple of times a week sometimes more, mainly due to the dog who brings in sticks from the garden and then proceeds to chew them, so the carpet resembles a forest floor.
