I am very much a homebody so that's where you will find me on the weekends with a glass of wine, maybe. I like to watch movies on Lifetime and the other movie channels. I also like to cook things and come up with new recipes. What do you do on the weekends?
Weekends are pretty much the same as any other day for me, except that the hardware store closes early on Saturday and they don't deliver packages on Sunday.
@Jeanee Burke Homebodies are the most wonderful people of all! We tend during our lives to become embroiled with other friends' or relatives', problems, situations, and so forth. But, when we are home, curled up watching entertainment or reading, we are at peace, IMO. Frank
Frank has a good point there, but I would like to get out once in a while, a lovely long stroll would be nice In answer to your question Jeanee, its the same as any other day
Well, let's see, on the hot/humid weekend afternoons, we are home, possibly enjoying a snack and Bud Light and watching PGA or something else. Even a two-hour nap can happen. If we aren't napping, wife has to have some kind of noise going on. "Quietness is for at bedtime or at work", she says. On Spring/Summer weekends that at aren't so hot/humid, tide, wind and weather is right, it's time to put the boat on the water. If not the boat, it's time to head to the Range and get some target practice going on with either the handguns or rifles. Now, when we lived in Colorado, our summer weekends were pretty full of fairs, rodeo's, boating and going to local Range. But, there, the summer weekends are much, much better weather wise (minus the high, high humidity) than here. Seems like the humidity is always much lower in Orlando area, for the Disney World visitors, than here.
Sometimes our weekends are relaxing and peaceful at home, other weekends we are at a Family get together, or cheering on one or more of our grandchildren while they play basketball, baseball, etc. Other times we are watching our granddaughters cheerleading at some of their school's games. Then we have a granddaughter who loves to be on stage so we may be attending a Play or Musical she may have a part in. Almost all birthday celebrations, seafood boils, barbeques, etc. are held on the weekend in our Family. There's always plenty going on in our Family on many weekends but as we have gotten older we pick and choose the things we attend as we just don't have the energy to keep up with everything now. Today I delivered a belated Birthday gift to one of my son-in-laws and a house warming gift to my daughter who had her whole home renovated after the flooding in August of 2016 that filled their home with water. Played with my two youngest grandkids for a short time and then on my way back home I stopped and picked up some "barley pops" and "smokey treats" for my Honey. I also made one more stop at Burger King for Whoppers and Fries for our lunch today. Now I'm relaxing on the couch and playing on the laptop while watching SVU on the ION Channel. On Sunday my Honey goes in to his part job for a few hours to do the Dairy order. And we may attend Church if we are up to it. The really nice thing about being Seniors and having our kids raised...is just being able to pick and choose what we want to do...or choosing to do nothing at all on the weekends.
In Fresno, I try not to even go out on the weekends since that's when most people are out. If I'm visiting family then my weekends are non stop busy because that's when my kids are off and doing things. I just finished watching "The Crown" on Netflix. Give it 5 stars. And now I'm watching the movie "the Queen" with Helen Mirren. Starts with the death of Princess Diana. Like I said elsewhere, I'm on a British kick with my viewing choices lately. I did run out earlier to the store because I needed toilet paper. Back to the movie....
Starting in the middle of August to the middle of January, my weekends consist of college football on Saturdays and NFL football on Sunday. Yea, I'm one of 'those' people... I'm sure there's a medical term for it and probably support groups and maybe even a 5k run to help those afflicted.
Well Tim our Family are some of "those" people too. We just love to party along with watching the games!
Ditto! I'm a Buckeye, but on any given Autumn Saturday I'll watch at least 2 games, often watch 3. not a fan of the pros, so I can rest up on Sundays. GO BUCKS. Hoot
I watch college football but am getting soured on the NFL. I'll find other things to do on Sundays. I also like baseball, both college and major league, but don't watch many games. Go Hogs.
