    @Bill Boggs
    188 lbs! Why, you made it sound as though you are obese! 'Course, if you're 3 feet tall, then.......

    Seriously, IMO gaining weight should not be any easier than losing it, should not, but always is. So, look at the whole deal as a challenge to yourself to control via mind-set, those forces demanding that you eat. I maintained very idea weight for many years by eating one meal a day, interspersed with low-calorie, low-fat tidbits to keep the hunger pangs at bay.

    I stopped weighing myself. My "scale" is a big mirror on my wife's closet door. My belly is now at the point of needing to be pared off.

    I'll start next week........

    When I need to lose weight (which I need to do now) I find the best way is to eat six or more times per day. Just a small amount every two hours or so. It doesn't seem to matter what you eat just so it's only a small amount. Meat, vegetables, fruit, bread or crackers, cheese, It's all good. In fact a variety of all of them seems to be best.

    I think you have to eat in a way that you feel comfortable with.....At around 150lbs I don't really need to lose weight, but while on vacation or indulging in unhealthy foods, I can put on a few pounds.
    Over the past few years I have tried the several small snacks a day, the 5:2 fasting, the low carb, the high fat and the one meal a day. They all worked for me in that I lost weight on them, I felt the healthiest on the 5:2 intermittent fasting diet though. .............. I have noticed that over the past few years my hunger mechanism no longer works, so I never feel hungry, which makes the fasting and one meal a day systems easy, but I also find myself snacking unnecessarily when I am worried or bored, so it all gets a bit complicated. ;)

    I wish you well with your diet @Bill Boggs let us know how you get on!!!

    Don't know if I have the ability to snack (small amounts) that often. We'll see how it goes.

    Just as a small hint @Bill Boggs. Save that cottage cheese for your night time snack. It's loaded with casein protein which synthesizes much slower than other proteins like those contained in whey, which are beneficial for amping up the metabolic rate in the day when you need them.

    By using the casein protein at night, your sleeping metabolic rate rises throughout about a 6 hour period. By doing that, your body works to repair muscle and burns fat cells. uh, no, you will not lose any normal sleep.
    I digress,
    When you burn the unwanted fat cells one other thing happens which is all important to men. Aromatase, which converts testosterone to estrogen, makes its home in the brain, liver and the major one, in our fat cells. By eliminating the fat cells you are also giving your body the chance to keep more testosterone and allowing the estrogen levels to stay at a healthy minimum.

    One other handy thing to know. Because casein protein is so slow, when you wake up in the morning your body will not require as much fuel to get started.

    That why we need periods of "rest" from things like FB and Forums...they become the "same old, same old" if that's all you spend your time on. :)

    I'm on the 11th season of NCIS on netflix. That habit alone creates other habits like eating peanut butter and crackers and stuff whist I am immersing my brain in flick fat.

    It's funny how "addicting" these like TV can be. When I noticed I was spending more time daily on my laptop then I was on anything else...I started weaning down too. :p
