One of the ladies that I dated after the death of my first wife called me MR. NEATNICK and I guess maybe I am, but I do wish I could do some things later rather than now when time is not that important. I can't stand a unmade bed, things on the floor, dishes in the sink. ring in the bathtub. burnt out light bulb etc. etc. I have this need (obsession?) to get things done now and not later,Maybe it's in the genes. My mother was the same way.

In my humble opinion, there are much more important things in life than clean sinks and neat houses. I don't think there has ever been a time when my house was totally neat. It has always been a place where you can relax and take your shoes off. But please put them out of the middle of the floor. I just hate tripping over shoes in the dark at night. :D Seriously, though, I keep it clean but I am not obsessive about neatness. I do make my bed just as soon as I get dressed in the morning. I don't like unmade beds.

I guess I am the opposite of neatness ........ I live in a kind of organised chaos, which is tidy at times, but then rapidly slips back into the natural (to me) state of untidiness [IMG]

For all you 'neatnicks' out there - you should give yer bed an airing, so pull back them covers and give it air
leave that way for at least half hour ...............

I do...because of Pickles I don't make my bed right away. Number 1 priority when I wake up is to let Pickles out. Then while he's out I go and pee and get my coffee, fill his water bowl etc. then come on here and other forums while I drink my coffee.

I make my bed when I go back to my room to shower, dress etc.

I use to be such a obsessive person when it came to cleaning, that at a friend house one Thanksgiving, they
thought i was the maid ! I am serious. Some how over the years I began to let go, and have even left dishes in the sink:eek:.
@Shirley Martin, you are correct ! I had to learn that late in life, and missed much. I am an organized person. Our apartment is clean
and after i put all his crap back where it goes...organized:D. If the place gets more than the lived in look, i clean it up. Probably one of the few who
cleans behind the stove, fridge and etc. at least once a year.:p

@Holly Saunders ... you know your are organized when you can tell someone... In dresser drawer 3 third one down on the right, in back of the socks:p
I can do this with almost anything in our place. It is called " you get it out, you put it back, same place" and before the sun goes down :D

LOL Gloria ....sadly I can do that.... I was really just joking in my last post but I still feel my house is a home and not a showhouse. I remember when I was a child and my mum and us kids cleaning the house within an inch of it's life before visitors were coming, and my fathers' mantra always being '' real friends come to see you, not your house'' and then I was raised in a children's home where everything had to be cleaned and put away before and after school..kind of army style ritual ... but the cleaning thing stuck with me......that said I do allow my desk to get a bit messy...but I know where everything is... :D:D

I'm not bothered about other people's homes, I can't control that so it doesn't bother me...that's their problem.

At home I have plenty of time to keep things neat, so I do. It's not like I'm taking time away from being with loved ones at home.

Actually, @Gloria Mitchell , I do clean behind my fridge at least once a year. It's on rollers so it's easy to pull out and push back. My stove and oven are built in so they don't have to be cleaned behind. I keep my house clean but not neat. I have Miki toys scattered around. If Miki has pooped and I haven't gotten around to picking it up, you might see Miki poop, too. OMG! When Bubba is here I also have Bubba toys scattered. No Bubba poop, though. :D

I used to be almost obsessive about cleaning. I even washed my walls in the spring and fall. Then when my kids were small, I read an article in Reader's Digest titled, "Does it matter?" The gist of it was that time spent with your children and husband was far more valuable than a clean house. The won't remember if there was a dirty dish in the sink but they will remember that you played checkers with them, etc. Hubby won't notice if the floors are waxed but he will notice that you bathed and put on a nice perfume just for him.
