Noisy places are driving me to drink. When you can't hear the person across the table the meal, ambience and experience is spoiled and so is the food. I was talked into going to a place last eve that I thought would be a bad experience. A neighborhood bar and grill known more for its beer (20 varieties on tap)and low prices. Badddddd choice. Food set like lead in belly and I was wondering the whole while why I had given in to pressure, but I had so it's on me. Never again though. If I can't dine-drink wine I'll pine and whine again on line so there.
Well now you know Kal - no, must mean no - when you know its gonna be disaster Wine bar ............... much more civilised I really can't tolerate noise so I just stay here in me own little bubble - don't burst it will ya Kal
Unless you have the money, most places here sure aren't the "quiet and romantic" type places. One restaurant that we know, that is decently quiet, believe it or not, it our local Denny's Restaurant. In fact, I told the manager/owner of a Mexican restaurant that we often go to here, "one thing for sure, if I wanted a quiet and romantic dinner, I wouldn't come here." He smiled and agreed. Most restaurants here are like sports bar's, with TV's in all corners. That sure don't make for "quiet".
We can tolerate noise, especially if/when we go to a sports bar to watch an NFL game. But, we already know just how loud the place can get. Actually, we aren't that quiet at home. My wife really dislikes too much "quiet".
I could never go to a sports bar Its your cup a tea and that's fine - prefer some smooth jazz and a glass of wine meself @Cody Fousnaugh
Noise doesn't bother me at all. I can tune it out all except snoring..that's the only noise I can't stand...drives me crazy. My poor ex was ready to get a nose operation to fix his snoring just so he could sleep with me...told him not to bother. He did try those strips and everything that's out there for snoring but none worked. I also tried ear plugs...could still hear.
Wife likes good wine, but most of the time will just have a beer. Wine can make her blood glucose go up. We are both Classic Rock, Disco, Motown and Country (as in Garth Brooks, George Strait, Brooks & Dunn) and Oldies fans.
I can only have a 'small' glass of wine now and its been years since I've touched alcohol But I sure do like the idea of sitting in that wine bar listening to smooth jazz Pleased to hear you like Motown, a favourite with us
She grew up just outside Detroit and listened to Motown a lot. Even got to see the original Supremes in concert in New York. She introduced me to Motown when we met and I got her more into Classic Rock. BTW, The Four Tops were on the tv show, A Capitol Fourth last night.
Fab ! If you ever get the chance see Temptations - the movie, its so good, their life story and full of music !
Iffen I get inta the door and music is too loud or not to my liking, I turnabout and leave. Mood music is fine but other like Western, rock or the like turn me about. They are considered just noise.
Sure glad we have "choices" in America. Our choice sure wouldn't be Mood music. I'd be sitting there, with a mug of beer in front of me, sleeping!
I thought perhaps I was the only one who becomes irritated with all the noise....and I almost deaf! Everywhere you go they have to play music or tv...then hollering kids...it becomes too much. All the more reason we avoid most places.
I don't care for the sports bar type of restaurant for that reason. If I am there with someone, I want to be able to talk and hear one another. If I am alone, I'll probably want to read, and they are usually too dark, too. I also hate finding myself in a room with a crying baby or a toddler with a tantrum.
