    Finally, Texas has come to it's senses concerning childhood marriages. It was 52 years too late for me, but now children have more support than when I was a child bride. I didn't ask to marry, that was a decision made only by the adults around me.

    This was one of those laws, or I should say lawless actions, that we can actually see where people can make a change. It does take time, and longer than many think it should, but late is better than never.

    Not in Texas, I hope. Aren't they bound by our laws once they become citizens? :confused:

  6. I think they went too far.
    No one should be able to force anyone to marry- regardless of age, religion, relationship, etc.
    But I think the law is a disservice to young couples who know exactly what (&who) they want in life, even if they're slightly under legal age.

    I do remember a time when 18 or younger, boys and girls, had to get ar least one parent's consent or a judges. :oops:

  10. Yes, I think that makes sense- as long as it's the young person's idea not the parent's.
    And where I lived in early years, legal age for males was 21- one brother needed parental consent to marry at age 19.

    @Gary Ridenour
    Disgusting consequence of "Political Correctness". Oh, well, fear not (too much), as I believe the constant Trump-bashing taking place via the media, directed by, and responsibility for, openly declared by the Democratic Party, will revile many Americans previously aligned with the Democrats, driving them to either ignore such news reports, or even further distance themselves from their "giveaway" party. In any event, clearly, govt is losing control over the cultural "mind alliance", thanks to the Internet, whereby worldwide spread of real and un-edited news may be spread individual to individual (or group to group).

    We are seeing a gradual but undeniable change in the way the peoples of this Earth are governed.

    Best believe it. Frank
