It's not that I don't believe in the possibilities of 'paranormal' activity, but as a new member I would prefer not to appear as if i'm on some type of 'paranormal bandwagon' or that i'm a paranormal event ambulance chaser.

Those that see aliens, ufos, or men in black continually, or feel that all in government are really monsters in disguise irritate me a bit .... but last night was so terrifying to me in it's utter uncomplicated and low key simplicity I just have to relate it to someone ....

I just moved into a large furnished travel trailer. This one has the typical motor driven expanding outer trailer wall so your living room section can be a typical normal width after sliding it outwards. There is a window at the end of this expansion wall that is about 11 feet off of the outside ground due to the leveling procedure needed for this trailer's particular placement. My son installed my flat screen tv on a sliding setup and as I sit at my breakfast nook alcove I can watch tv and see out of the right half of this 24 inch square 'porthole' ... the tv covers the left half when pulled out and in use.

I have occasional insomnia and was watching tv last night at 3 am or thereabout. So unobtrusive that I nearly missed it , there was suddenly a perfectly round green dot nestled in the lower right bottom corner of the outside glass. My past career as an investigator for Marriott Hotels has trained me to be a bit composed and a little 'Sherlockian' in investigation, so I'm not prone to jumping to conclusions although admittedly I thought instantly of a laser gunsight look and size and slid to my left immediately although there was no real way to be certain if the perfect roundness of the dot was telling an accurate story of any gun's angle outside ... the dot disappeared from the corner in an instant and reappeared just as quickly to the extreme left of this half of the glass ... the same direction I had slid .... and was continually lit and motionless for 30 seconds or so.

I keep a .357 magnum handy and I'm not embarrassed to admit it was in my hand less than 6 seconds after this dot movement, as the handgun is always in the breakfast nook area. the dot winked off however and was simply gone.

I repositioned myself for safety and used every possible mental tactic I'd ever learned in 50 years of investigations of all types .... On Utube I viewed how lightning bugs look on glass windows but all were either too yellow, too ovoid in shape ,and most had those nearly invisible thin striations over the abdomen light portion of thier bodies ... I also never saw one remain lit for up to half a minute and certainly none as bright green as my little 'spectre' .... This morning I checked the ground for ladders or footprints just in case it was not light cast from a distance ... nothing, and the woods that begins immediately from the rear of the trailer showed nothing on the ground nor broken or bent branches either .... so unobtrusive, so quietly ... there ... purely frightening as I said, in the utter simplicity of this intrusion.

Interesting. Since I don't own a gun with a laser gunsight, my familiarity with that is limited to television and movies, and the laser dots are generally red. But I see that green is often used as well. I think I'd be more concerned with that than if I were to believe it was a ghostly orb, largely since I haven't heard of anyone being killed with a ghostly orb. I imagine another answer could be some yahoo with a laser pointer. By the way, I think there are some real monsters in government, though.

Thanks for the reply and yes I do as well agree about government monsters and of course there is always the memories of Nixon as well ... Thought about that green dot all day and I was truly hoping my research on utube would have convinced me it was a firefly but it absolutely didn't even remotly fit what I saw and the light length of on time ....

I certainly hope it was as I'd really rather never see it again ... lol, I do have to laugh at the irony of fear ..... it can occur from the very complicated makeup of a claimed bigfoot or bear, all the way down to this tiny green dot ! The brain so desparately struggles to make it an Occum's Razor event and simply register it as a firefly though in my heart I know for certain it did nothing of the sort to justify that title ...

    Ha ha - how true
We have had many incidences of strange things happening, I'm so used to it now but never a little green dot although I love
    the colour green.
Lets hope it was a one off - if not, let us know won't you
    :p

In June 1968 in a park near Astoria, Oregon where I was roughing it overnight with my cousin, both of us 17, en route from Seattle to San Franciscio, I had a confrontation with a bright yellow electronic-looking light dot the size of the lit end of a cigarette.

After dark it was pitch black where we were, with no lights anywhere and no one else was in the park, nor had any vehicles arrived, when this light appeared about 6 feet off the ground in front of me about 10 feet, unmoving. It scared the hell out of me at first, then I decided it must be a park ranger holding a cigaret so I started to walk closer to talk to them, at which point it did sort of a figure 8 and vanished. Stunned, I decided it must have been a firefly but was still quite shaken. The following day I was informed by locals that there were no fireflies in Oregon.

I have always been utterly puzzled by that experience, but it sounded enough like yours that I thought I should mention it. It freaked me out thoroughly and I never slept out in a park again.

That is another truly freeky experience .... My first thought is a one eyed owl but it takes other light to make owl eyes reflect .... I wonder if there was a tree with a limb at the height you mentioned .... and are there any mountain lions in Oregon ?

I had walked over to the place the light had been hovering and nothing was there at all. I also checked the next day in the daylight and saw nothing. This was a rural park outside of a large metropolitan area but there may have been creatures about, though I heard and saw none while there. This was in a small clearing surrounded by evergreen forest. No animal would have been that tall and there was nothing in that area that it could have been standing on. My cousin, by the way, was back in her sleeping bag not involved in this at all, so I was the only one who witnessed it, very frustrating. I told a few people that summer but it was so inexplicable, and some clearly did not believe me, so I stopped wondering about it outloud! Now I am wondering all over again.

At least we both came out of the mysterious situations safe and sound! But I would put up a curtain if I were you, and keep that gun handy.

Interesting stories to say the least.
Tactical and survival training gave me a small bit of insight into those things that are unexpected and tend to make the adrenaline flow but nonetheless nothing to shoot at. (which would give away a position)

One such thing is the way the tiniest bit of moonlight can reflect off of a drop of water on a leaf. It stays stationary but with the least amount of breeze the reflection will disappear just to reappear a moment later.
That said, to a soldier, it could be anything from the glint off of some shiny object the enemy might be carrying to yes, a cigarette so a lot goes into a fire / no fire decision.

Many years ago when I was living in Western Washington near Mt. St. Helens , I had a similar thing happen one night. We had gone to bed, but I had not fallen asleep, and suddenly there was a bright green light appearing on the wall of the bedroom. (No fireflies in Western Washington either)
It seemed to move around, and I also thought it was some kind of a laser beamed at the bedroom.
Later, I learned that the military sent their soldiers out to our area for survival training and also infiltration of inhabited areas. My neighbor said they had had chickens disappear out of the chicken coop overnight, or something disturbed on the property, like an outside building having the door left open.
One morning, I went out to feed the horses, and discovered that someone had slid two bales of hay about 1-2 foot apart, just enough that someone could have slept there and been warmed by the hay on each side.
Sometimes, we heard people talking on what sounded like 2-way radios, and when you walked toward it, the sound either moved farther away, or disappeared.
The final information came one day when I was riding out in the forest with my daughter, Robin, and a soldier suddenly stepped out on the trail in front of us. He had been in the woods for survival training, and lost his way, and was supposed to have been picked up about two days ago, but could not find the pickup spot.
Since Robin was also military, he opened right up to her and explained about the survival training that went on near our home, as well as saying that there was a UN training that happened further out on Mt. St. Helens.
The pick-up point was actually right near our house, it turned out, and later that night, we heard a vehicle stop out at the end of the main road, then a car door shut, and it drove away.
It was a pretty safe assumption that the lost soldier had finally found his correct location to be picked up again.

Possibly, you might be in an area where troops are trained in survival techniques, @Michael Santi ? Are you anywhere near a military base ?

Not really, and where I am is so deathly quiet and still near a woods it's unlikely I'd hear not a sound of any kind ...

@Michael Santi - been discussing this green dot with my husband Fabs (I renamed him Fabio, Fabs for short :p)
He reminded me of certain lights that come onto the wall at different times of the year, I guess it could be Martin ......
I would say definitely if - it happens again, especially if at a certain time of day - or night

Patsy, I've read this post above several times and just cannot make sense of it ... " certain lights that come onto the wall .... I don't understand what you are referring to ..... nor do I understand what you mean by "I guess it could be Martin .... Very confusing post, perhaps you could reword it ... I've also just bought and moved into this trailer so summer versus winter lighting would make no difference to me as yet if that's what 'lights on at the wall' meant ...
