so small its fits the palm of my hand. so my long lines and I phone bill are out of sight. time for a change. my wife's girl friend claims she's had this for almost 4 years no problems. decided to give it whirl. it connects to cable modems or wireless WI-FI. amazing voice quality and zero background noise. signed up about a month ago. my first bill was $17.00. if you're a faxer you can, for a fee add a dedicated line with you're own fax number. I don't use Fax much so I use a phone adapter that take both phone and fax. my wireless phone has a lot of feature you may have to pay for. this may not be for everyone.

also last Sat my old printer had a heart attack and is now in printer heaven. picked up a 4 in 1 brother for 59 bucks. works great.

here's another gadget you may have head of. the add says cut you're cable and save. ill have to check this out. my cable is my highest utility bill which has TV and internet.

@Gary Ridenour ".....my cable is my highest utility bill which has TV and internet."

Just wondering, not any of my business, but we have one provider available from whom we get DISH TV, DSL Internet, and Land Line phone service as a package, currently running $149 a month. I feel we're getting a rooking. Do you pay that much?

I'm paying $150@month, with 50mbps internet, wifi, 6 channel HDVR, way more HDTV channels than I could ever use, plus phone that I keep the ringer turned off. Spectrum.

A lot of people hated Spectrum. A.T.T. came through last fall and upgraded their buried lines (fiber) and it became all the rage. A lot of really disgruntled people in my area over their switch. (fine print)

I agree. since Spectrum its greed city. I have my own phones so I don't pay for that, I turned in they're cable modem and bought my own. otherwise its another 15 bucks, plus charges for 2 TV converters. I would like to try Googles fiber but its even more. AT&T claims you sign a year contract. and pay for any unpaid bal. ill pass.

I'm not too far off that number, but several are really duplicates.

If someone were to come up with a package of TBS, TNT, USA and a few others... I would be all set. But I suspect they are the very ones driving up the costs. All the others are likely pretty darn cheap.

I got a deal with a 2 year contract when I switched to Direct TV from AT&T...I still have the AT&T Uverse bundle that I was paying $185 for but by switching to Direct TV I get the same bundle but for $129 a month...still have a year left on the contract...will see what I do then.

The bundle includes my home phone, internet and the 200 channel pkg.

It's also my highest bill except for PG&E in the summer.

Well I'm fit to be tied! Just saw my bill and its $154.99!

Called them and it seems even though I talked to them a month ago they found another way to screw me. Seems my 2 yr contract is only for Direct TV and now my internet bill jumped $20!

The guy I was talking to said he was going to connect me to the loyality dept. I hung up after being on hold for 20 mins...I could feel my BP rising.

Maybe I'll call again tomorrow or I'll just eat the extra $20 cause I'm sick of talking to them...it's pointless...all smoke and mirrors!

I also signed up for DirectTV a little over a year ago, and have the same (or similar) 2-year contract. At the end of the first year, the prices go up. We lost the little discounts we were getting as well; so our bill jumped almost $40 more than last year.
I called them up to see what could be done, and I think I must have been on that phone call well over an hour; but they took off some extra-channels package that they had stuck on there (which we never watch) and also they were charging me for the deluxe box that allows you to record shows and movies to watch later.
We basically only wanted the news and weather; so none of that is something that we would even consider recording, in any case. They said they can send me the basic receiver set, and that saves another $10 per month. We received the new box, and sent back in the card for the old receiver. They said they would provide a box to ship the receiver back to them, but the letter they sent said they only needed the little card; so who knows how that will go.
The new program is for a year, which is when the old 2-year contract would have expired anyway. Once we get to the end of that, we will cancel the whole thing. We have a good antenna that receives all of the local channels (and doesn't go out when it storms like the satellite does), and also our Apple TV with Netflix and Amazon Prime movies. With all of that, we should be just fine without the satellite.
If they have not lowered the monthly amount by this month, I am seriously thinking of defaulting on the contract and paying the penalty and be done with the whole thing ! !

The penalty is pretty hefty, isn't? I'm not sure anymore.

I'll probably call back tomorrow and see what happens. I never accept any extra promotions like free hbo for 3 months or anything like that because ive been burnt...you forget when the 3 months is up and they don't tell you but then start charging you.

They really push the envelope in getting every cent from you they can legally. All tricks!

Just thinking about them upsets me!
