Not to get to off-topic, but years ago, I had a manager that almost got fired by the owner/president of the company for saying the "f" word to the supervisor of accounting. She came out to the shop and wanted to know something from him. He was very busy and said that, with the "f" word included. I found out very quickly that his business relationship with hers was pretty bad. She was close to the owner/president and his wife. He had hired her. Thing is, I heard him say this to her and she knew that. I was called into an office by the owner/president and engineering manager (who was over the manager of the shop) and asked what I had heard. I told them the truth. The owner/president ended up telling the manager "If you ever say that word towards one of my employee's again, I will fire you on the spot. Do I make myself clear about this?" He said "yes".

IMO, Christians do have "standards" to uphold. Certain things simply should not be tolerated. We don't have to watch raunchy movies or be around, or friends with, people who just don't care how they talk or other non-Christian things. As I said, IMO.

One of our Theatres even sells alcoholic drinks too which I personally don't think is a great idea.

I've heard of those but don't think mine do but I wouldn't know....I don't like alcohol at all so I don't notice these things...

When I lived in Hungary you could buy beer at McDonalds and Burget King.

But yeah...a theater dull of drunk people driving home isn't a good idea...unless they limit it or do something to make sure you're not drinking and driving but then people go out and eat and drink so who knows.

They have some "Dinner and a Movie" places where they sell a meal and drinks with a Movie, but this is one of our regular Movie places and when I saw the frozen margarita, etc. machines it surprised me for sure. But here in Louisiana drinking alcohol is so much a part of the cajun culture and passin' a good time that it shouldn't have surprised me.

The theater we went to last night has constructed a new alcohol bar across from the snack bar. It hasn't opened yet, but it's there. I was quite shocked, but the manager told us that all of theaters here either have it or are putting one in. Guess some folks would rather have a cold beer with their popcorn instead of a soft drink. A person having too many beers can cause a problem though.

Funny thing, Melissa McCarthy's movies can be pretty raunchy (language, etc.). However, her one movie, St. Vincent, with Bill Murray is rated PG. Because she plays a mother of one son, she doesn't swear.......that I remember. In the movie, Spy, she didn't swear until she became a spy, then the words started coming out. When interviewed about her language in movies, she stated that she has only slipped-up once at home around her kids.

Yea, it was sort of funny, but there was a sign at the snack bar talking about the new bar and right above that sign was another showing some special alcoholic drinks people could buy at sports bars and other places within the same area of the theater. Talking about pushing drinking.........wow!

My wife wonders why these two were brought up?

I do know there are Christians, Catholics and other religions where people don't act the way their religion says they should, but that is up to them. We have a lot of problems in America today and many will blame those problems on movies, music and computer games. Just saying.

That's the way every generation is...I remember that showing Elvis on TV below the waist was banned and parents were outraged at rock and roll....then we had the 60's...lots of free love and drugs.

True Chrissy, every generation has been influenced by what they see
The problem today is, there are not many 'good' influences around

Music has been blamed for a long time...starting with Elvis.

Drugs and sex are in most of the songs from the 60's.

Most of the groups or singers that you listen to and liked were all into drugs, alcohol, sex with anyone...why do you listen to them then? You can bet they used the f word all the time not to mention the c word and more.

Because they popped into my head when I said hypocrites. I'm sure they didn't use the f word but did a lot of things that were a lot worse than a word.

Watching a good movie is like reading a good book to me. Lately I just find more good books to read than good movies to see. In the past though there were lots of good movies I went to the Theater to see and even if I didn't go often I would go sometimes now if the Movie trailers and reviews sounded so good to me that I didn't want to wait to watch it for free or from Redbox, etc. sometime down the road. "The Promise" looked and sounded like it would have been that kind of movie to me...but since I missed my chance to see it at the Theater...I will have to wait to see it another way. No matter when I get to see it I do hope it will be a Movie I can say was well worth seeing in my opinion.
