Comey was responsible for "closing the book" on Hillary's indictment for unscrupulous emails vaguary, as well as other illegal transgressions. For that alone, I welcome Comey's exit.

Previous FBI Directors do not escape unscathed, but they are gone. Namely Louis Freeh, in charge during two infamous FBI raids resulting in the deaths of many innocent people, including children. Freeh promoted the FBI Special Agent who ordered the siege on Ruby Ridge, after the smoke cleared, to ASSISTANT FBI DIRECTOR! His name was Larry Potts. The outcry nationwide resulted in him taking retirement. With full pay for life.

Sick leaders we have, and have had.

The most singular significant piece of hypocrisy is that the same democrats who wanted Comey's head on a pike just before the election are the same ones who are downing Trump for firing him.
They are saying that the president ousted him just before he is slated to testify before congress. They are relaying it to the media that Trump wishes to keep the ex-FBI director quiet hence the release from the position.

The problem with that bit of slanted news is that fired or not, Comey still has to testify and will probably be pretty ticked at the president when he sits before congress. If Trump was really concerned at all, he would have kept Comey in office until after his testimony.

It simply shows me that our president is being honest and wishes a better man or woman for the job.

I was on board till the last statement. I doubt that attribute and objective are his reasons. I'm inclined to think he has something to fear from the investigation Comey was conducting. ( and still does?)
Trump 'pushed him' to declare he wasn't being investigated and asked Comey pretty much if he was loyal to him. He didn't get the response he wanted.
Recall that he defended Comey over the Hillary episode(s).

I still think there were grounds to fire Comey, but the Trump cabal and spokesmen/woman all told differing 'facts' on how the firing came about, differing from Trumps time line and statements, including the V.P.

Comey needed to go, and if the FBI director was conducting any investigations himself, I think we need to hire some full-time FBI agents. The real crime is the one being ignored by the press, which is that the Obama Administration used the powers of our intelligence agencies to spy on the opposition party during an election.

Which pretty much answers @Kalvin Mitnic's statement in regard to the president asking Comey where his loyalties lay.
In a position that is fundamentally at the behest of the president, the head of the FBI is privy to a lot of information that should be left behind closed doors and not spread around to opposing parties.
Comey, in the very essence of the whole Hillary thing was compromised and in the grand scheme of things could not be trusted.

It would appear that devious cunning and underhandedness are among the prerequisites to becoming FBI Director. I can name a few.

A guy with the initials JEH who started the FBI and retired from it at the age of 77 comes to mind as one of 'em.....

JEH's legacy is about as dubious regarding fact as any of them. Now, the "internal affairs" U.S. law enforcement agency has 52 offices OUTSIDE of the U.S. How times have changed (for the worse, IMO).

Again he needed to be fired. But usually the tenure is 10 years unless.

    Interesting is this,doubting it's fini I am.
    And
I doubt the Republicans will support Trump for his full first term.

Considering the fact that minds do change in any administration, Republicans in general backing Trump or not is a moot point at best.
The mid term elections will tell the whole story and at that point any speculations will be verified or brought to naught.

So far as the Comey debacle, politics is a quantum science within itself. Ensampling Watergate, nothing is ever finished and nothing is ever forgotten for the break-in and Nixon are still being investigated and brought up from time to time even to this day.

In short, politicians are not happy unless they are politikin' even if there is nothing to politic about.

Impeachment by the GOP is not out of future consideration. Seems Trump tried to stop Comey from investigating Flynn.

And I'm a Republican but not of the Trump variety.

It's already well known how much bias is in the media. What I choose to do is watch the market, employment, and how business, in general, moves in the U.S. Ag and commodities are up, manufacturing is way positive and employment is better than it has been in 10 years.

To make a generalized statement regarding republicans and whether they, we, I still back President Trump is called an opinion and does not come close to passing the smell test.

In referencing McCain and Graham (and their lobbyists), we see from the primaries up till now a strong opposition against Trump but that's just sandbox vengeance for Trump slapping them both around before he became president.

In my humble view, if congress doesn't start toeing the mark, the voters are going to oust them before they even think about doing anything negative with the president.
