In our younger days many of us dreamed about retirement and how it would be for us. I know I thought about how mine would be for sure. Although some things are happening like I dreamed they would, so many other things are just total surprises to me. Some of these surprises are not ones I like either but that's life and I'm going to have to deal with them whether I like these surprises or not.

Are you living your retirement dreams or have you had some surprises come forth that are causing you to adjust your dreams some or even have to change them completely?

One of the positives I've been able to keep during retirement is staying close with my Family. This is something I just could not imagine living without so I'm glad this dream has stayed true. It is harder to find times to nurture that closeness now that most of my siblings live in different states but somehow we all do our best to make these times happen and I'm thankful for this. I saw myself doing a lot more traveling in retirement with my husband, but now that he is losing his vision it looks like this dream is going to have to be adjusted.

My Honey's vision loss is throwing a big wrench in our retirement plans in many areas actually, we just haven't had much time to really think about how much because we are just trying to adjust to the vision loss itself right now. More than anything else, this change is bringing change to all our retirement dreams.

Although I never really worked so in a way I was always retired but I did dream of when my hubby retired and spending time with him but that didn't happen...maybe one year when he was bedridden. :(

Life has a strange way of taking us down paths we just never dreamed we would go sometimes Chrissy, nor did we expect to walk those strange paths by ourselves. :(

Are you doing anything you thought you would do when you were in senior retirement?

Except for spending time with family which I always did anyway....guess not. I had planned on traveling with my husband..now I travel alone. :(

I am thinking of trying a short trip with some group but it's only a thought so far.

I did have some fun with my ex traveling...forgot about that. Besides all the trips we did for our job we also took a few trips together...went to Maui with him, also napa valley, Yosemite, Tahoe and a maybe a few more short trips.

I like walking down cute main streets...doesn't matter where as long as I'm not alone.

I don't know yet. It's in the thinking about it phase so far. I know that there's a 55+ club connected with St Agnes hospital and they do trips, etc.

When I volunteered at the hospital I was thinking of joining that group also but back then I was neeed more for watching my grandsons so time was always an issue.

I have to look into again. First time I'd do a short trip nearby just to see how I like it.

When we moved to this retirement apartment, I thought we would be 'so' happy here
We have to make the best of it we can though, as we are stuck

It seems like you have a beautiful nature that does choose to make the best of things @Patsy Faye and so I pray that our heavenly Father will bring change to your retirement apartment that will bring happiness there too.

Dreams of retirement. I guess we've all had them at one time or another. I never really thought I would get to this age, so it's turning out to be as much a mystery as my youth seemed to be. Only now I don't have the energy or curiosity that I was blessed with back then. I'm not sure if I'm heading toward a sense of peace, or if I just don't have much to strive for anymore. So I've decided to wait and see.

:D Missed you @Ina I. Wonder it's so good to hear from you again. I think most of us are taking that mysterious journey into our final years and feeling the same way you do. It's a lot harder than I ever dreamed it would be at times and for me acceptance of what I can't change is the only thing that brings peace during this season of my life.

Thanks Babs, I've got a lot of reading to do to catch up with what all of you have been up to in the last month. I'm hoping to get a giggle or two. :)

I've been doing a lot of sleeping while the doctor figured out the correct dosage for my seizures again. I haven't had to take medication regularly for them since 2010. They've never been able to figure out why I have them, so when they crop up each time, I have to go through a battery of tests, and the rollercoaster of different meds.

I'm told to be calm and quiet, but if I get anymore so, a snail is going to pass me by.

Don't do that Babs. I'm tired of sleeping so much. I really meant it when I said I could use a few giggles. :)
