    @Chrissy Cross
    If I were a member of an intellectually and scientifically supremely-developed species capable of observing Human Life on Earth, I believe I would turn and run..........

    I think that I am closer to agreeing with the article that @Chrissy Cross presented (the Skeptoid version) than the idea that there was some sort of an invasion from outer space, or some other planet. I don't believe that there are any space aliens, and I think that most of the unexplained "UFO activity" is from some sort of government secret aircraft, and they just let the space aliens idea float around as a cover-up for anything that people see. Since the government also denies that there are actually any UFO's, this only helps make the whole thing seem more real to people.
    It is possible that it could have been one of the balloons that were floated over to the United States by the Japanese during the war. Most of those bombs landed in the mountains, or somewhere that no one lived, and as far as I can remember they didn't cause any damage, although they are still occasionally being found in places along the West Coast of the US.
    One night, I was sitting outside enjoying the coolness of the late night summer evening, and all of a sudden, something with about five bright lights , or maybe five planes in close formation, came flying into the sky, and going much faster than any kind of an aircraft that I have ever seen, either before or since. As fast as they appeared, they (it ?) made a sharp turn and disappeared behind the mountains that were south of where we lived in Idaho.
    I wondered if it was some sort of alien spacecraft at the time ; but now I just think that it was some sort of top secret plane/planes that the government was testing out.

    As a kid, my Mother told me of Orson Welles' chillingly realistic radio broadcast announcing an invasion of Earth by Aliens. If I recall correctly, it was done several years before I was born. My parents listened to that broadcast and decided it was faked. Thousands did not, and mass confusion reigned for awhile in the area around the supposed "invasion": it may have been New Jersey. I may just look into it, if no one here adds to this.

    I remember reading about that, and it is pretty interesting if you want to look it up, @Frank Sanoica . The original broadcast was never intended to scare people, and before they started broadcasting the "War of the Worlds", they announced that nothing was true and it was just a radio story narrated by the incomparable Orson Welles (one of my favorite old-time actors).
    The problem came in with people who missed the opening of the program, and once it was started, the stations were no longer announcing that it was just a program and not real. People who tuned in during the fake news announcements believed that it was real, and thought that we had really been attacked, and Welles was very realistic in his news announcements.
    Naturally, word started spreading, people called their friends to ask if they had heard the news on the radio about the "Martian Attack", and even more people tuned in, believing it was real. The panic was so bad that even the police could not make people believe it was only a radio broadcast.
    Here is a video of the whole broadcast if anyone is interested in listening to this epic program.

    Better to keep as open a mind on the topic as possible. It would make it easier....(and more convenient), to switch to the ''believe'' mode, in the event that it should become necessary at any time in the future.
    But, try putting yourself in their position.. Judging by what the human species is certainly capable of...if I was an overall commander of an alien mothership... i, certainly, would err on the side of caution, and be quite content to observe proceedings from a relatively safe distance, rather than to come ''barging'' in, so to speak. Especially, now that human scientists have more or less got laser beam technology under their belts. Or, at least, are aware of the fundamentals of it.
    My guess is that they could be lurking in the vicinity of the ''Red Planet'', or, even on the other side of the moon...and plan to intervene only when humanity is on the verge of doing irreparable damage to planet Earth...as in a nuclear holocaust scenario, for instance. Or...all out chemical warfare...

    Yes. I remember reading about that. It was in 1946, or thereabouts, if i`m not mistaken. I remember, also, there was another ''fake'' incident staged...specifically designed to strike fear and terror in to the general population. It was one night during the 1980`s...during the early hours of the morning, when graphic footage on the ''goggle box'' clearly showed a nuclear explosion taking place at an unspecified location, and whoever happened to be viewing at THAT ungodly time...(mostly, insomniacs, i would imagine...) were led to believe that it was actually happening...the unthinkable...a nuclear attack on a location in the UNITED STATES....
    A topic for much gossip and innuendo around the office later that day, no doubt.
    Then, there was 9/11. And, when THAT happened...many people experienced a strange sense of unreality, as if such a thing could NOT possibly be happening. And, THAT, of course, made the reality of it all the more terrifying...

    Winston Churchill witnessed UFO sightings during World War Two as did the Russians
    There was much discussion between the two

    Well my thinking as a Biblical believing Christian is that these UFO's and aliens are no other than satan and the rest of the fallen angels thrown out of heaven by God when they rebelled against Him.
