What's the best or most useful thing you've bought in recent times....

...and what is the worst thing you've ever bought ..or would never dream of buying?

The best thing I've bought recently is a car cane grab bar that fits inside the door frame of the car to help me get out on days when my legs and back are too stiff and painful with the RA...it also has the added advantage of a seat belt cutter and a flashlight

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/o7e/Offi...1494096656&sr=1-1&keywords=care+cane+grab+bar

The thing I'm least likely to buy ever... is alcohol , I hate the taste

Best buy, at least what I can think of right now..........our Foot Spa. Haven't used it much, but when we do, "oh, so nice".

Worst buy, was the Mobile Power Scrubber we got a few months ago. The brushes that came with it, just aren't tough enough to really do much cleaning. Will try it on our boat and see how it works on it. But, for home use, it's just "ok", but sure wouldn't recommend it like I thought I would.

Broke down and purchased more tools.

Got a couple of things that are better than I thought and one that I regret.

The Good: Hand-held Anemometer that measures temp and air movement.
I use it to test draft and CFM (cubic feet per minute) for A/C work.
It was cheap and works better than expected.

The Bad: Got another Voltage, Continuity, Amp tester. It's not bad, just
way too limited for work. I'll use it for other projects. Should have went
with another FieldPiece meter. Might Pay-it-forward to a guy just starting out
    to learn HVAC stuff.

" What in the heck is he talking about ?..." I know. Short version: Just tools; got one I liked and one that's just ok.:)

I think that the best thing that we purchased recently (even that was about a year ago) was the little ice maker machine. We got it at Sam's Club and have used it year around since then; but of course, more in the summer than in the winter.
Before that, I was filling up the ice cube trays every day (several times a day in summer), and also the ice bin in the top of the fridge/freezer. Now, we just use the ice machine, and have the whole freezer top to use for regular frozen foods.
The ice machine makes smaller little ice cubes and they are perfect for ice water or ice tea, and both of us have been so glad that we bought it.
I have been trying to think of something that might qualify as the worst purchase; but I can't come up with anything at this point. I will add it if I do think of something that turned out to be a terrible purchase.

The very worst item...ever bought..two reclining theater chairs.Came equipped with everything, lites, massage, and i hate them. mainly because we still have to use them. After about a year and a half, the faux leather has bunched up,peeled to a dreadful looking mess, plus all the fluff material in part where the legs raise when reclining came out. And,now all the wires are protruding outward, so makes them uncomfortable. Will never buy again from this furniture maker..and we paid cash!
The very best item bought, was last year, my new Stylo Plus phone... love it:)

The best thing I bought just recently was a pair of wire cutters from Amazon. I had been looking for a pair that were easy to handle when cutting wire fencing to support some of my taller flowers that lean over badly.

Lots of worst items but I didn't pay much for them at the flea market one in particular was a VCR for $1. I could get the movie in and struggled to get it out. I quickly got tired of that and trashed it.

My best buy would be these heated cat beds. I bought the first one fourteen years ago, not knowing if my cats would like them, and they loved them. I had some ferocious fights going on over that bed until I bought enough for each of them, and still they would fight over them once in awhile. I still have that fourteen year-old bed. It is getting to be a little thread-bare but it’s still usable. I use it now only while I am washing one of the others. I just bought a new one a few months ago. The cats love them, they hold up well, and they are easily washable. They cost more now than they did fourteen years ago, but they’re still worth the price.

My worst recent buy was this metal bookcase. From the picture, it looked like it would go together much like the pieces of an erector set, for those of you who remember erector sets, so I thought that should be pretty easy to put together. I bought two of them.

My God, that thing was hard to put together. It took forever, and some words that I don’t generally use. Just awful, and when I was done, I had to go to the hardware store and buy some more brackets to screw onto it in order to keep it from falling over. Advertised as being able to hold 500 pounds, it wouldn’t hold its own weight.

By the time, I realized just how bad it was going to be, I didn’t want to have to take what I had done apart again, so I kept one, but sent the second one back.

Here’s my review on it. There weren’t so many reviews on it at the time I bought it, but I see that the reviews are now running 38% one-star, with headings like...

    • This is the second worst thing that happened to me since my grandmother died
    • No wonder the manufacturing jobs went over seas
    • The worst product I have seen in any category. Any positive review is a shill
    • Not even useful as scrap metal
    • Absolute junk
    • Bent, flimsy, piece of scrap metal garbage
    • Just spring for a better quality shelf, you will be much better off
    • Worst Amazon purchase
    • No one should ever buy this product and Amazon should stop selling junk like this
    • A great shelf for your marshmallows and cotton balls
    • I am actually bleeding and it isn’t even put together
    • Why is 0 stars not an option?
    • A truly amazing product, but not in a good way
    • Stay away - don’t think your experience completing complex handyman tasks, including renovations, qualify you to assemble this
    • This is easily the worst example of shelving I have ever seen
    • Great shelves if you’re blind
    • Good luck
    • You may want to drink before starting to assemble
    • You could lose your sanity on this
    • Don’t even think about it
    • If you want to test your marriage, go ahead

  11. Best: I bought a Crockpot online from Target- a little smaller than I'd expected, but it made a nice corned beef dinner for St. Patrick's Day, and a pot roast dinner a few weeks later.

Worst: A book I ordered from an Amazon seller- it literally stunk, smelled so moldy I could hardly stand to read it, but didn't want to bother sending it back.

I had a book like that once, put on disposable gloves and wiped it over with a disinfectant cloth
Then put on another pair of gloves, started to read but couldn't continue, threw it out

My laptop is the best thing I've ever bought for myself.

The worst thing I've ever bought is exercise machines that I never really used.

One of the most recent things I bought was a cordless battery run Lawnmower... oooh the freedom from long extension cables... . It's almost a joy to mow the lawns now..

Another worst buy for me was many years ago in Cyprus, I bought a couple of films on VHS tape from a street seller, who had a little TV and recorder where he would insert the tapes and play it to show it wasn't a badly copied fake...so he plays them for about 10 minutes and they're fine...I buy them, get them home to the Uk a couple of weeks later, to find they are the worst fakes in the world.. there's only 15 minutes of the whole films copied onto the tapes..and to add insult to injury one of the tapes broke and messed up my VHS recorder

My camera is also a best buy for me.

When my Honey and I first moved in our Acadiana Cottage I picked out a new livingroom set which turned out to be the most uncomfortable seating possible...and I ended up giving it away even though I felt bad about this because of the money we had spent on it.
