IMG_0535.JPG These are so cute, I had to make a post about them. Add any that you find for Easter...if you want to.

This year Easter will be on April 16th, my oldest grandson will be 18 on that day! Obviously, I will be going there for Easter and my grandsons birthday and also mine 2 days later, my son's is 2 days after that, the 20th but he's in Illinois. :(

A cute story about my son's bday, 4-20. 420 is the code word for smoking pot just in case you didn't know.

Last year my son and DIL and 2 other couples went to Aspen, Colorado for a few days. I watched my 3 little grandsons. Anyway, this was after marijuana was legalized for recreational use, so one night they all decided to go to one of these places and buy one joint...none are pot smokers but they were having a fun time without kids.

You had to show your drivers license to buy it, so when my son showed his, the guy started laughing....my son didn't think his picture was that funny so he asked why he was laughing....the guy replied...your birthdate is 420!

I thought that was a cute story. :)

They did have fun...laughing so hard my DIL peed her pants.

By the time I found out Biblical Truth about the Easter Bunny, etc. and Santa Claus, etc. I had been celebrating these "Christian Church" teachings just like everyone else. When I learned the Truth that these are pagan idol worship celebrations...wisdom and discernment led me to stop participating in these things and to concentrate on the real meaning of Easter and Christmas.

My children are adults and in charge of their own lives and the things they do or do not do. And when they asked me why I didn't do these things anymore, I told them the Truth about these things and that I felt convicted by the Holy Spirit to not do these things anymore. I told them that as long as they don't feel that conviction to not do these things, then they are doing nothing wrong. They do know the real meaning of Easter and Christmas and celebrate the Birth of our Savior on Christmas Eve and Santa has Christmas Day. The Easter Bunny usually comes on Saturday and the death and resurrection of Christ is a Holy remembrance on Easter Sunday.

God is our Father, Jesus Christ is our Savior, the Holy Spirit is our Teacher and Guider...and the Bible is Truth to my Family. We do not not consider this religion, we consider it relationships with our Creator, Redeemer, and Counselor and these relationships are just as important to each of us as the ones we have with each other. Relationship and religion are two very different things to my Family Chrissy.

@Chrissy Cross, love the egg and pancake creations for Easter. Since both of us are now Diabetic II, we don't celebrate Easter like we use to........with candy/chocolate.

When I was little, my mom always colored lots of Easter Eggs. she enjoyed doing it, and she would even paint decorations and add glitter to some of them. I always did get an Easter Basket which had chocolates and other candy, lots of jelly beans and stuff like that; but I have never cared much about candy in general, and I always looked forward to the real eggs that she made.
I seldom ate boiled eggs any other time than at Easter; but I am sure I probably consumed at least a half dozen eggs on that day alone.
They just tasted SO much better when they had been colored and decorated, I guess !
Anyway, now we don't do anything like that; but both Bobby and I like deviled eggs, and I make those every now and then. The little ones that look like baby chicks peeking out of the shell are totally adorable, @Chrissy Cross !

I think my husband loved the colored eggs even more than the kids did...they liked coloring them but weren't that crazy about eating them until they got older.

When I lived in Hungary and it was my first Easter there it was very frustrating because although they had the Paas coloring tablets, the eggs in Hungary were all brown eggs...I couldn't find any white ones and the colors didn't come out as nice on the brown eggs...I was disappointed.

Then one year when I had my live in Romanian housekeeper she did eggs like they used to do back in Romania...it was pretty cool.

You needed new knee highs and some leaves or a flower and onion peels to color the eggs.

You'd put the leaf or flower on the egg, put the egg in the toe of the stocking to keep it in place then dip the egg in the dyed water from the onion peels.

When it was done, she would shine them up with bacon fat or maybe we used cooking oil but they were so pretty!

So it would be a colored egg with the pattern of the leaf or flower left in the color of the egg.

Sometimes we would do this with red food color....for some reason Hungarians preferred the dyed eggs to be all red ones...think that goes back to the blood of Christ...

My days of coloring eggs are over unless I go to Illinois...older grandsons don't do it.

We go to church (catholic) and a brunch somewhere...either at the hotel on Monterey Bay or the country club. Think this year it's the country club. They have a nice buffet and they do have an egg hunt and other activities for younger children...my grandsons of course are too old and believe it or not, they're not big candy eaters.

You go there and there will still be Halloween candy in the pantry.

I think that when kids don't feel food-deprived (or maybe candy-deprived is a better word) then they do not care so much about having candy. When I was little, my mom and Grandpa Bailey ran a little neighborhood grocery store, so there was always candy right there, all day, every day. As long as I ate my meals, I could have candy any time that I wanted it; so it really didn't mean anything to me, and I seldom ate any candy.
I did enjoy going trick-or-treating; but even then, I would often just give the candy to the other kids, and if we got a homemade cookie, or fruit, then I kept that because that was a treat for me.
The kids in the neighborhood would save up their pennies so they could come to the store and stare at all the penny candy trying to make up their minds which kinds they wanted to buy, so for them, it was a special treat and a really big deal.
Easter candy was the same thing for me, and I enjoyed the real eggs, since we seldom ever had plain boiled eggs.

Well you know my kids are dentists but they never forbid candy but it wasn't something they could have any time they wanted. If they ate their dinner they could have some candy and that's the way it's always been at my daughter's house but even though they go through phases, they're just not candy lovers.

Now my youngest grandson, Liam makes up for all my other grandsons when it comes to candy, lol..he's something else. :)

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fabergé_egg

A Fabergé egg (Russian: Яйца Фаберже́; yaytsa faberzhe) is a jeweled egg (possibly numbering as many as 69) created by the House of Fabergé. Virtually all were manufactured under the supervision of Peter Carl Fabergé between 1885 and 1917.[1] The most famous are those made for the Russian Tsars Alexander III and Nicholas II as Easter gifts for their wives and mothers (though these were not the only gifts they gave for this occasion). The House of Fabergé made 50 such "Imperial" Easter eggs, of which 43 have now numbered as extant.[1] Two planned for Easter 1917 were not delivered due to the Russian Revolution in which the Romanov Dynasty was overthrown and all the members of the imperial family executed.

When I was little, I always thought these were the most beautiful eggs, I always wanted at least one big one in my Easter basket...but they weren't that tasty ...too sugary.
