Don't feel as if you have to by any means, but if any of you send me a friend request on Facebook, please let me know about it first. As you probably do as well, I get a lot of spam requests so if I don't recognize a name I am likely to deny the request, but if you let me know ahead of time, I won't. I say this because I turned down my niece's request a while back because I didn't recognize her married name.

I'm pretty much phasing out Facebook, only way you'll get a friend request from me is by accident. :)

I have more people blocked than I have friends now...even removed my profile pic. Since my family isn't on so much lately, I have no reason anymore.

Too many irritating people on there.....not you of course, just in general.

I have an account but can't remember when I last looked at it. Just never had much interest nor the time to answer each and every silly little comment made by people that don't even know who you are. Good grief some people brag about having half the world population as their friend.

I absolutely love Facebook ! I only have people that I know on my friend list, and I only follow my kids, and none of them post very often. This way, I do not get all of the little "shares" that go around; but I can look at everyone's page when I want to, and only share things I actually want to share.
I also belong to a few Facebook Groups that I am interested in, and I enjoy looking at those a lot.
It is my way of connecting with my friends and family, and for me, it is perfect.

Just like some Junk e-mails that I delete without even opening them, I keep darn good tabs on our Facebook account. If I don't like a posting, I "Hide" it. If I don't like the language someone is using, I "Delete" their acct. from my "Friends". Only people and organizations we know, and like, do we communicate with.

I just went and looked to see how many friends I have that are still on Facebook but have died and I've never removed them...I had 4 but in looking now I see one just lost her husband yesterday or today.

Some of you might know her but maybe not...she was on SF for awhile but had her own forum in Ireland and she invited me to join...I did for awhile but had to go through YUKU, she moved from NJ to Ireland and married someone there...that's who died.

Think her name was Gael on SF ....sad. I haven't talked to her in at least a year but maybe I'll message her.

I think that Facebook is totally different for me than being on a forum. Here, we have a lot of interesting topics, or just want to unload some of our burdens on caring ears and hearts. On Facebook, I do have occasional conversations about something; but mostly, it is a non-invasive way for me to interact with my family and friends.
When you call someone, you never know if they are busy, having dinner, or maybe taking a nap; so I usually do not call my family unless there is an important reason, and that is how they do as well. Sending emails is fine, but Facebook is even better because I can post it once on Facebook, and everyone can read it and reply if they want to.
I also belong to some local groups from where I lived in Idaho, as well as historical groups , and a few news groups; so more than a place where I interact (like on this forum), Facebook is a place where I catch up on news and information that I am interested in.

I use Facebook on a daily basis because it is my Main means of communicating with friends and family here and abroad. and at age 82 to let them know that I am still alive.

I understand, FB has its place for some. Guess it all boils down, whose on their and do they really have anything to say of real interest.Sometimes they do- such as a niece who was a victim of the terrible fires in Kansas.

Yes, Facebook and forums are very different. Although there can be private forums inside of Facebook one can belong to...I did but quit when the election was at its nastiest....too many of my friends on the forum were anti Trump and I didn't want to argue with this group of old forum friends so I left that group...maybe I'll rejoin after some of the Trump stuff dies down...in a year or two, lol.
