I've just started watching F Troop (1965-1967), and it's even funnier than I remembered it. It's hard to believe that it only lasted for two seasons. I am almost, but not quite literally rolling on the floor laughing. The first season is in black and white, while the second season is in color.

If you remember, the local Indian tribe is known as the Hekawis, who received their names because they were lost and, coming across an Army patrol, the chief asked, "Where the heck are we?' but the soldiers heard, "We're the Hekawi."

When Larry Storch would take off his hat and hit a trooper and say, " How dare you give your captain the grumbles...!"
    always cracked me up.
Great cast and funny writing for its time.

I have heard of F Troop but never watched it. The ones that I liked watched were Hogan's Heroes.and Gomer Pyle USMC....great shows and I wish they had more of them.

Ken, is F Troop being shown on tv rruns or did you get DVD's?

I have it on DVDs but I think you can get at least the first season (maybe the second) on Youtube. I've seen it on Google Play too, but it costs money, although no more than what I paid to get it on DVD.

It's actually very much like Hogan's Heroes, only in an 1860s Western setting.

The end of the Civil War was near
    When quite accidentally,
A hero who sneezed abruptly seized
Retreat and reversed it to victory.

His medal of honor pleased and thrilled
    his proud little family group.
While pinning it on some blood was spilled
And so it was planned he'd command F Troop.

Where Indian fights are colorful sights
    and nobody takes a lickin'
    Where pale face and redskin
    Both turn chicken.

When killing and fighting get them down,
They know their morale can't droop.
As long as they all relax in town
Before they resume with a bang and a boom
    F Troop.
