I mean a talented one I trained, not one I got as a gift. Very precocious it got my attention with antics in it's tank. While others just swam around and around and around without seemingly any purpose, this one I soon named Fynn kept doing tricks when it saw me watching. Racing at the glass then turning tail and doing rolls and such. I started working with it and Fynn enjoyed the challenges. One of the tricks Fynn learned was to take a string in it's mouth and have it try to lasso other fish. Over months of rewards for effort I thought I had a fishy friend and a smart one at that. Now I liked fishing back in the day and there was a grand daddy old trout I wanted to catch. Many had tried but none could ever outwit the wise old fellah and I started thinking that I might just have the way. I started some specialized training and when we were ready I took Fynn to the trout stream in a bowl which I lowered into the water where the old wise trout made its presence at times Eventually the cunning old trout was swimming by and just as we had trained, Fynn sat there as bait holding one end of a line. The big old trout sensing an easy meal charged it's big old mouth wide to catch poor little Fynn. Fynn, unexpectedly to the trout I'm sure, darted into the trouts mouth and just as quickly exited a gill and with string now secured about it's head tied a half hitch (yeah of course I taught Fynn how to tie knots silly), knot in the string and swam quickly out of danger. Having the other end of the line in hand I easily pulled the tricked trout out of the water. I really couldn't ignore the unfair catch so I let it go after taking a photo of it by Flynn's bowl. If A fish can look surprised I swear the trout did and I swear Fynn winked at the old fellah, not me silly, the trout. Fynn lived a long time for a goldfish and believe me our friendship was that, pure gold. I miss the little fellah, but I have the line around the framed picture of a huge trout looking sheepishly at a little goldfish ogling it from its bowl.
Ha ha - enjoyed that story I know for a fact fish are very smart - but I think you're stretching that line just a little bit there Kalvin If you ever do get some more fish, make sure the tank is 'big' and has some things in there to occupy them Fish seem to take to basketball so be sure to have that facility for them They get bored - well so would you, wouldn't you ...................
Hmph! I thought you said he was gifted. If he was so gifted, why didn't you teach him how to tie a whole hitch knot?
Now Kalvin, I also know fish sticks are not hockey sticks - no, basketball is the game for fish they are pretty good at it too
I hate to be a kill joy but really, fish stay away from anything having nets. They have been known to frequent Bass Outlets.
Ha ha ! You make a good point, but - I've actually seen a couple of fish shooting the balls through the hoop they love it !
