I'm always trying to identify plants, flowers, and berries that I encounter. I am not always successful in finding the ones I am trying to identify, so I'm really excited that I stumbled across this site: http://www.asergeev.com/pictures/k/Texas_red_Flowers.htm and was able to identify this plant that grows in certain places up by the water: http://www.asergeev.com/pictures/archives/2008/630/jpeg/09.jpg
Diane, this is a really nice guide. I love flowers, but I am absolutely terrible at growing them! They don't even wait for me to kill 'em anymore. They just go ahead and commit suicide as soon as I plant, or trans-plant them! Honestly though, a lot of the flowers in the guide can thrive well here in the southeast as well as out your way. I would love to have every one of them in my backyard!
I probably won't remember the names of those I look up, since my memory seems to get worse by the day, but it's still nice to know that there's a place I can turn to find out what they're called, and where/how they do best. Yes, it seems most plants that do well here do well across the Southern U.S., and even up part of the East Coast. I'm not sure about West and North, since the climate changes more significantly in that direction. I thought I had killed my jasmine and gardenia, but they seem to be going ok, and my white mandevilla is still doing well, despite it being down to 1 or 2 stalks only. It still flowers like crazy and is beautiful.
