Figures, you have the same issues with mainstream media there. If you have any good links on "real" news there, I would love to have them. I'm not that good and finding stuff on youtube, not as late breaking as I'd like.

Russia will never return Crimea to Ukraine, and in my opinion nor should they, it was part of Russia until Kruschev (himself Ukrainian by birth) gave it to Ukraine in 1954 under very dubious circumstances. The peninsula is inhabited in the main by Russians and Putin did take it over peaceably and gave the citizens a vote on which country it wished to be attached to, of course all elections can be rigged and are very corrupt in Russia especially, but in this instance I see no reason for the majority Russian population to vote for Ukraine.

The problem is of course by illegally invading and occupying another nations sovereign territory, meant Russia had violated many international agreements which itself had signed up to.
The sanctions are the punishment relating directly to to this illegal act, there are other issues at stake here including other disputed territories in Ukraine which are inhabited by Russians, though Putin has not to be fair taken any action here.
I cannot see a simple solution to lifting sanctions while upholding International law, maybe only time will wither it away, but that could take a generation or more...

Crimea was part of Russia from 1783, when the Tsarist Empire annexed it a decade after defeating Ottoman forces in the Battle of Kozludzha, until 1954, when the Soviet government transferred Crimea from the Russian Soviet Federation of Socialist Republics (RSFSR) to the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic (UkrSSR). The transfer was announced in the Soviet press in late February 1954, eight days after the Presidium of the USSR Supreme Soviet adopted a resolution authorizing the move on 19 February.

Theres no such thing, all news have their own agenda in my opinion. I don't bother with newspapers because of this
Instead I watch discussions etc, much more telling, you get the 'true' picture that way

True they are all biased in some way, all you can do is read around and make up your mind really.

I like the discussions on Fox News but I don't know I'm getting the full-picture, but I usually get something from both sides, though lopsided towards conservatives. The others are so much the just, flat against conservatives I would rather have no news than watch them.

I like the speeches best, from the actual people, like hearing directly from Trump, or any government official rather than 2nd-hand through media.

Thanks so much Terry, this drives me to get a book on Russian History as I know very little. Any recommends I might find at the library? I am truly interested in knowing more, Denise

Yes Denise - a bit flat by the sounds of it. I like debates, discussions - as long as my fella can get a word in
usually they're shouting him down
