As we amuse ourselves to moral and mental degeneration, constantly stimulated by bright lights, subliminal and primal, suggestions and indulgences, one can only foresee the eminent future as this generation Laughs wildly on the high way to oblivion. It is truly intriguing that this generation is the only one to be controlled and manipulated by being entertained. It is more fascinating when you realize that the breakthroughs of this time, are almost always derived from the need to be entertained. The fact is that majority of people are junkies, constantly seeking to be entertained, so anyone who can supply the constant entertainment, will suddenly become the champion of the people. Regardless of what the motive of the suppliers are, we will love them because they entertain us, even when that entertainment is clearly costing us our lives and minds. We are sick with the need to be amused constantly, our abilities to place limits on our consumption gone, always seeking the next "BIG" thing. A generation of many hollowed dreams, based on a Futile system that was only created to mine men for their labor. It is very ironic that man that constantly cashes in on earths natural resources is himself, earth's greatest natural resource. In one way or the other, we are mere livestock, laughing and daydreaming all the way to the slaughter house. So far as we are afraid to question reality and look at the facts, we will continue to be slaves of entertainment, constantly waiting for the next upgrade, and keep up, you will constantly struggle with increasing bills that you must pay by working for someone who works for someone, that works for someone else. We are all slaves who because of our various needs to be amused constantly, have consciously chosen our place in the pyramids of slavery. When last did you observe the sky properly? I’m sorry, you are too busy looking for the means, so you can afford your next amusement. The Circus is never closed and will always open her arms to the infantile mind, getting them hooked to her lights, trinkets and illusions... And when she is done with you, she will spit you out because you have become tired and old and can no longer feed her endless need for a food source, her never ending need for another schmuck to waste their lives pursuing stimulation to the point of exhaustion.
How I agree with your post We have lost sight of what's important in our lives for sure Having always had respect for my elders, I chose to join them in a community of apartments for those of a certain age. Not what I imagined at all ! Most, are totally consumed by what they read and see around them, so instead of joining them, I tend to stay well apart from them. I have a couple that are special and considerate If I said to anyone I know, that I am a spiritual person, they would not have a clue what that means Looking up at the sky fills me wonder and sheer delight, day or night Looking at beautiful scenery fills my heart with joy and when I see destruction, I just cannot comprehend the minds that destroy beauty. If 'everyone' appreciated the wildlife, scenery and the sky above us - what a wonderful world we would have.
A belated welcome to the forum, Michael! Most of today's generation of seniors, have learned how to bake the "cake" of hard work and responsibility, during their long lives, and in retirement take time to enjoy the "icing" of today's entertaining gizmos and gadgets. However today's current younger generation have jumped right to the icing and want nothing to do with the cake. They moved from distracted driving to distracted living!

I think we Seniors are able to do both and still maintain our foundational communication skills. We can juggle it all, and still keep our real values. The younger ones have never developed the Art, beyond "connecting".
Most minds like to be entertained and to keep busy the entertainment can come from two sources external or internal. The younger population but no all use external video games, loud music, computer interactive group programs, and so on. The other group is the internal these are the thinkers, planners, the people with something going on inside their heads. I have noticed the louder the music the lower the IQ seen this in many of the different countries that I have traveled.

I had to delete my linkedin account, i was getting an unnecessary amount of junk offers and the website appears mostly dead to me.
Well it is as i said, i worry about the future of humanity because these days the new drug is constant entertainment, constant stimulation of the senses mostly because we are surrounded by gadgets that offer short cuts to all things... This may be human evolution or the beginning of some new Age, be it as it may, there is something about these times that makes me very uncomfortable. This generation seems to me like one that is headed to degeneration and the decadence of the dark ages because many people are rushing towards a lifestyle that makes them less human daily. I've watched a lot of great men talk but one thing i have come to realize is that, most people these days are their own problem (Both young and old) because of the constant rush towards poor minded choices. Nothing good is easy but today is full of a lot of easiness and fastness, which will only lead to doom, eventually. Hope you learned more @Frank Sanoica

I saw this author speak when he was promoting his book back in the mid-80s. He was right, of course, but it was pre-internet, pre-social media, pre smart phones, etc. So, the situation has only gotten much worse all these years later. What can be done about it? Do you have any advice, @Michael Lehmkuhl ?
