"When death came, as it inevitably did, the ancient Egyptian pharaohs and their relatives were ready for it. Each had spent years preparing a lavish tomb stocked with everything they might need or want in the afterlife, including food, preserved for eternity".

"Even meat and poultry were on the menu. To keep these highly perishable foods tasty until the end of time, the Egyptians mummified them—slowly drying them with salt, bandaging them and covering the bundle with resins—much as they would a human body".

I don't mind the food they took with them...but they also took their wives with them, etc. even when they were still alive! :) Or is this a myth?

They Egyptian tombs or so it is said. Have secret exit that leads to eternity.

I am extremely interested in other faiths. I do like the ideology of Hinduism.

A good nosh sounds great. Nosh is eating food so all in favour of a good supply. ;)

It was a fine practice indeed, that the pharaohs upon their death would take their wives, servants and a couple of good gnoshes with them which to me, was a definite lack of trust in their Book of the Dead.
The book was entombed with them (starting about 2K years before Christ) and was filled with incantations and spells which would ensure them of safety, sustenance, uh...the ladies, and a meeting with their maker among other things.
What I find particularly interesting about the whole mummification process is that all of the soft organs including their brain was removed, mummified, and placed in jars separate from the body. The reasoning, so far as my understanding, is that the King or Queen would not need those things in the hereafter. Noteably, the practice was eventually also used on those who were less than royalty.
That explains a lot if one believes in reincarnation.

If, in the realm of reincarnation, an Egyptian person were to come back anew, then he or she would obviously become a politician for their brains did not come with them and are still stuck in a jar somewhere in Egypt.

Ha ha. I so agree with your last sentiment @Bobby Cole. I have very little faith in politicians these days.

You would never trust anyone who reneged on a promise in the ordinary world.

I suppose somebody has to do the job.

Just glad it's not me :)
