@Ina I. Wonder , I may be wrong, but although the veggies are really important and full of the good stuff, some of them can be a little rough on the insides. Just a thought.

When I think about noodles/pasta, I couldn't eat it plain, so I'm the same with the squash, I have to add some flavor. I think I like some things simply because I know they are good for me, but can't eat them plain;) I try not to put too much of my sauce on it, a little goes a long way;)

Wow, late breakfast/brunch, but I had so much spaghetti squash, I thought since I always chop up vegies in my scrambled eggs/omelettes I would substitute some squash. It was great! I feel so healthy, and full:eek: Ways with Squash! I did toss in a couple of link sausage, and a piece of nuts and seeds toast;)

See ya'll later, need to shower, and maybe take a hike (walk actually, flat-lander for now;) )

@Ruby Begonia you are quite right. I'm told I eat way too many veggies and not enough of the other kinds of foods. I'm told I need a more balanced diet. That after my reconstructive surgery my stomach now is having trouble processing my food. That's why I can easily skip a day or so without eating.

    I know, not good.

@Ina I. Wonder , while you are slowly but surely re-introducing foods to your system, ask your doctor if one serving of a liquid supplement like Ensure or Boost would benefit, since it does take up room inside you, not like a tiny pill.

I absolutely agree with you about the protein drinks, @Ruby Begonia , and I have been suggesting this to Ina for some time now. Even when she doesn't feel lik eating much, a good quality protein supplement will help to nourish her body with healthy food and vitamins.
Ensure and Boost are advertised a lot, but when you actually look at the ingredients they are packed full of sugar, and not that much protein and vitamins. We buy the powdered protein supplements that are low-carb and high protein, and those can be mixed with milk, water, or something like almond or coconut milk.
We also get the packaged protein drinks, and I take one of those along for when we go to the fitness center and exercise and swim. I can't eat much before I exercise, but I do need something, and the low-carb protein drink is just perfect. I drink some before I swim, and the rest when I am getting dressed and ready to go home. I like AdvantEdge low carb in either chocolate or vanilla. It tastes good, and has 17 grams of protein plus vitamins.
We get it at Sam's club; but I think that Walmart and probably the large Kroger stores would carry that, or something comparable.

Your suggestions sound better @Yvonne Smith for the sugar issue.

Pomegranates. They are a royal pain in the butt to eat but I like them.

I get the best protein powders at a good price at Grocery Outlet. I make smoothees often. I like Greek God Vanilla/honey yogurt, 1/2 cup, blueberries (I buy frozen, frozen banana (I cut them up and freeze them too so they are ready to go) 1 scoop of protein powder, and about 5 icecubes. Just blend it and drink, yummy.

Hot sauce. Never used the stuff until recently. My taste buds must be dying. Ketchup just didn't do much anymore. Even some hot sauce needs to be liberally applied. Frank's extra hot has some bite to it.

LOLLLLLLLLLLL!! @Ike Willis you're a hoot!! I'm learning to use some spicier, hot foods, and seasonings. I've read they are good for my tummy. I don't think they are if someone has ulcers etc., not sure about that. I have some stomach issues now that I'm not sure what caused them, but I'm trying to remedy that with better foods.

Speaking of hot though, I fell in love with the General Tsao (spelling??) chicken they sell at Safeway. I get that once in awhile when I don't want to cook;) I love it but accidentally bit right into one of the red peppers, man I bout choked it was so hot!! I can handle the sauce with the touch of the hot pepper flavor, but not bite right into one:confused:

We had to go to Walmart today, so I specifically went to the health supplements section (right by the main door for us in our Walmart), @Ina I. Wonder , and I looked to see which good quality protein supplements were available at Walmart.
The one that is the very best quality and the one I would recommend for you is called Body Fortress. We get the whey protein powder, and then blend and drink that; but they also have the pre-packaged kind, and it has a whopping 42 grams of protein per container. One of those first thing in the morning should help you get your day off to a great start. Plus, they are low-carb, so you won't just be filling your body up with sugar like some of the cheaper ones are made of.
There is also Muscle Milk, Premium Protein, and CarbAdvantage, all of which are excellent choices, and there is a variety of flavors you can choose from, especially in the Premium Protein.
Since it is liquid protein, it should digest fairly fast and I think you will notice the difference right away, especially of you take one of the Body Fortress protein drinks every morning, and one of the other ones (which are all lower protein) later in the day.
It is at least worth giving it a try ! !
