I am newly retired and looking for something to do on line that is not too time consuming but will bring me in a few extra dollars. I am currently doing a couple of on-line survey companies and doing ok, but would still like to make a little more. Some of you say you are free lance writing and that sounds interesting to me. Can anyone tell me how to get started on this and how lucrative it might be for a newbie? Thanks so much!!

Payment for writing jobs vary from one online marketing site to another. Depending on your time and freelance 'liberty' , you can look into these payment options:
    • Flat fee content writing. This is an upfront payment. There are internet marketing sites that pay a specific amount for the work you delivered.
    • Hourly rate writing. Many internet online marketing offer payment for a specified time they give to writers to submit content fro review, editing and proofreading. If your content is published, you get paid.
    • Revenue share writing. From every content/post you write to these get paid-to-post, revenue shares offer residual income for writers. Pay is determined by money generated by ad clicks, page views, traffic and sales and revenue generated from the ads.
Search Google. There are thousands of online marketing sites where writers are needed.

I think a writing job is a good suggestion. At least you are at home and can attend to house chores. Besides, from what I see, the standard schemes of writing sites is the independence regarding your time. Those earning sites have no time constraints except for the regular login of at least once a week. But you need a Paypal account for that since most writing sites pay their writers via Paypal which is really convenient.

I just ran across a site yesterday. Here is the link: http://www.bkacontent.com/for-writers/#apply. From the sounds of it, you'll have to have a pretty good grasp of English grammar as they do make you take a timed test. :) Also, another site I really like that has TONS of different types of jobs is www.realwaystoearnmoneyonline.com. The name of the site is kind of corny, but the woman that runs the site has tons of reviews and a lot of different ideas as to different types of jobs that people can do from home. Hope this helps!

Writing for the Internet can bring in a steady income if you learn a little about search engine optimization. Clients will often ask for keywords to be used or specify that they require SEO content. If you are writing for revenue share you also need that knowledge so you can increase the number of visitors who arrive from search engines to read your articles.

You might also consider other income opportunities, such as reviewing music, mystery shopping and website testing.

I have noticed lately that variants to online earnings are getting to be a lot. that mystery shopping is new to me and also the website testing. Is that like a beta version that you test the website and you get paid for the diagnostics you submit? That's one of my chores in the office. One of my units handle the testing of new programs created by the Development group. We have to test it thoroughly and try to find bugs and mistakes in the procedures. Once done, we certify it so that means the responsibility of the program's integrity lies on our shoulders.

When you sign up to a program that pays to review websites, you are obviously given links to visit. When you go to a website you have to have your computer microphone switched on so you can talk through what you are seeing and say what is happening when you try to perform different actions on the site.

I know a few people who do this in the UK and they earn quite a good part-time income. I have heard of similar programs in the US and it is likely that in other parts of the world there will also be a need for people to review websites.

Oh, do you mean I would have to record my opinion on the matter using the microphone? I don't think that's a good idea because I would jus stammer, hahahaaa. I may be good in written English but speaking is a different thing. Although that's a good idea, in fairness, because it gives me the chance to learn how to speak English fluently. But then again, I will just try some other ways to earn money online. Thanks for the info anyway, I have learned something today.

Try searching for "beermoney" forums on Google. They have guides for just about every single money-making site, and they also rank them by how much you earn and the such. Or, if you don't want that, just search for Swagbucks and Bing Rewards. These are really easy to use sites which can really rack in the extra dollar.

@Carlota, over here, there are the so called job fair initiated mostly by the media companies - newspapers and tv networks. But go there and you will be disappointed because they are only catering to the young workers. No matter what qualifications you have, the age is the stumblign block. Of course, those job fairs wouldn't admit that fact and they would say you are welcome to apply. But is there a senior citizen who had been hired? The answer is nada.

    Hey,

I'm going to try this! I'm not a beer drinker, but I like to find ways to pick up some extra cash now and then. Thanks!

You should definitely give all those sites you find a try. I've made 150 dollars since the start of August with various websites, just by completing surveys and the like! It's a fantastic way to earn some bonus money while you sit in front of your computer!

One of the more profitable ways I've found to make a little money on the side over the years is through focus groups. Some are in person, and others are online. Look for legitimate market research companies in your area, and sign up with them to be on their panel. They will use your demographics and other information you provide, to select projects that apply. Some pay more than others, but often involve additional work. I recently participated in an online focus group that lasted just over an hour and paid $100. I also participated in a product test that lasted 2 weeks. All I had to do was use the face cream they sent me 2 times a day, and then fill out a survey at the end, for $30.
