I forgot to mention, I have a tendency to get Eczema, and have to be careful about laundry detergents/fabric softeners/dryer sheets, too. I usually use All Free & Clear or the Purex equivalent, and Kroger has some free and clear type of dryer sheets for $.99/box that I now use.

@Kate Ellery Wow, that's crazy about the coating. I recently purchased some supposedly 'jewelry quality' hemp and when it arrived, it was actually sisal, and smelled so strongly of gasoline or something similar that I had to immediately put it outside, because it was inducing a migraine. It seems odd to me that in these days where more people than ever seem aware of chemicals and additives, that people would make and sell products loaded with them. I'm glad they accepted the return without any issue.

I tend to purchase my sheets at places like Tuesday Morning, Marshalls and TJ Maxx. Those are the best places in this area that I've found, with nice quality products at decent prices. I hate overpaying for anything, especially if the item isn't good quality. I'm glad to see I'm in good company here with a bunch of sheet and towel/wash cloth snobs. I buy those at the same places, and have always been satisfied.

Am I a sheet snob? I most certainly am!

Timely post as I just washed some sheets I bought a while back at Tuesday Morning. So not soft. I don't know what to do with them.

I have mostly good luck with sheets purchased from Ross and TJ Max, discounted stores. After the Tuesday Morning sheet debacle, I'll need to be more careful. "Sateen" doesn't cut it. I need to pay more attention to the thread count. Cotton only. I think some of those sheets are seconds from these stores. I noticed once a slight color shade difference from the top and bottom sheet. That's not a problem for me.

Also do not buy wrinkle free sheets. I have heard they put some chemical in them. I'll take the wrinkles thanks.

Yea, I'd say we are sheet snobs. We only buy the Egyptian 400 Thread count. Fortunately, we only buy them when they are on a discount at JCP/Penny's. After doing some online research, of which I'm very good at doing:D, I quickly learned how to wash and dry them.

Right after buying them, before putting them on the bed, I will wash each sheet separately using both a little (very little) All Free/Clear, with about a cup of Baking Soda. When the rinse starts, I will add 1/2 to 1 cup of White Vinegar. Will dry on Medium heat. After that first initial wash/dry, I will then wash top/bottom sheets together with about a 1/2 cup of All Free/Clear. For rinsing, I will alternate between 1/2 to 1 cup of White Vinegar and the other times, use some softner (Snuggle). For drying, which I just happen to try this and the sheets came out wonderfully soft, I put 3 tennis balls in the dryer with the sheets. The same 3 tennis balls I use when drying towels.

Just call me Mabel (the maid). Heck, my wife really doesn't even know how to run the washer or dryer!

I see a few have mentioned "Tuesday Morning", I used to shop or look around there a lot. When I moved here in 2003 there was one, not the best area, probably worse now but seems they were always going out of business but never did.

Just the other day I got an ad in my mailbox from them but threw it out without looking....I don't need anything.

Wow @Cody Fousnaugh, I'm impressed. Also, you could actually make a lot of money if you ever needed to cleaning....it's not just a woman's job.

You could make about $70-$80 an hour here. That's how much I paid when I had someone come and clean every two weeks. That was when I worked and my ex lived here.

My daughter has had the same man clean her house since she's lived there 16 years. She has him come every week.

All you need is cleaning supplies and sometimes not even that. My daughter likes him to use what she buys.

If my back didn't hurt, that's what I would do. It's a big business here and my neighborhood is middle class.

It may look like it, but laundry and housecleaning definitely isn't my specialty. I do it because my wife still works a full-time job and I know she appreciates it. Anyway, it can be quite different keeping a home, where you live, clean and cleaning someone else's. When cleaning someone else's, it's got to be done pretty A-1 perfect. And, on top of that, there are different things that can happen when going into some ones home and doing something. Personal Insurance comes into view.
BTW, thanks for "being impressed", but I do quite a bit of research online about different things.
