So, anyway, my Sears dishwasher is a bit gummed up, the dishes aren't getting clean, and I tried some dishwasher cleaner tab that was supposed to clean it out..it worked like once, now we are back to the same old thing. I mean, I am not handy and may break the filter if I try to take it out. So, I called Sears since we purchased an extended warranty with this thing...they said in order to come out and do a maintence check it needs to be functioning correctly??? Huh What??? Why did we buy this warranty if they won't fix it when it needs service? Well anyway, I am gonna try to remove the filter, but if it doesn't work...it is going to be functioning correctly when I call back!! Stupid company!
I agree, the filter wasn't that hard to take out, and roomie is finishing cleaning it with a toothbrush. I tried putting it back in already, but it was making noise, he is mechanical so he will be able to put it in I am sure. Stupid Sears, I will have them come out anyway...and do a maintence as that ought to be covered. I was envisioning having to use a screwdriver and all sorts of stuff.
Warranties are sometimes almost amusing. I bought an Acer computer once that had a warranty that was voided the moment anyone installed a program on it. So the warranty was good only if you used only the stuff that came with it, and it didn't come with much.
That's one thing that peeves us when it comes to appliances. The service is very important when something goes wrong and it is still covered by warranty. But to have a disclaimer that it should be functioning correctly, huh, what is that? When I bought a rice cooker that stopped working after a few days, I hurried back to the department store because the warranty is only 7 days - for the replacement otherwise the warranty of 6 months will only cover the repair which can take months, that's according to the store attendant. It's a good thing that I was able to get a replacement.
Now, some warranties are good, I had an online friend who managed to somehow spill coffee on her puter 3 times. She had an extended warranty with Walmart and they fixed it everytime for free. Also, someone else I know online had a warranty with Dell and they came right out to her house and fixed her computer! So, I guess it depends on what company you are dealing with! I don't think I will be buying another warranty on a Sears product though...
When I worked for Sears, I learned that their "Maintenance Agreements", or "MAs" as they were colloquially known, were the gravy on top of the sale, producing more revenue than the sale itself. I saw them as insurance policies, most all of which I regard as fraudulent or downright bogus. If the salesperson succeeded in selling the MA, he/she received added commission on that sale. Frank
you always hear that about warranties! I have a maintance agreement on the heatpump here,(with a different company of course) and they are very good about scheduling appointments to come out and check it. In fact, they call you you don't have to call them! However, I am going to do some research on this Sears agreement and insist they come out..just to do a routine check. Thank God, the DW seems to be OK now, or should I be knocking on wood again? It is probably my own fault for not doing this filter cleaning sooner.
Grr. I no longer buy most warranties, as I consider them scams. I did buy an extended warranty on this vehicle when I purchased it used, though, and I got my money's worth out of that. I purchased a warranty on the living room furniture when I bought that, and it was useless. I'll never bother with that again. They exclude most things that commonly happen, so there's virtually no worth in the guarantee. That was Ashley, by the way. I can't speak to other furniture shops, but I spent quite a bit of money on that set and was really unhappy that they didn't cover the damage.
Ohhh, I had a scenario something like that, but when I bought the car I have now, I bought like a short term extended warranty something like 3 months or 30,000 miles or something. Would you believe the water pump broke just days after the warranty expired??? Of course you would! lol. Would they cover anything?? NO!!! Anyway, Sears is in trouble and is closing the store where my parent's live. My dad, finally bought himself the riding lawn mower he had been wanting, and they are charging him 69.00 to delliver it! Hmmph! It should be free.
I don't remember exactly how long the warranty was, but I did get my money's worth out of it, for sure. I hadn't anticipated needing it, but I did, at least twice, and thankfully, the repair place was near where I worked at the time. I've gotten emails about extended warranties, but I've heard those are a scam, so I avoid them. That seems like a lot for delivery, but then again, a riding lawn mower is pretty heavy. Maybe they needed a special truck to deliver it. I know I ended up buying my appliances from Home Depot because delivery was free, rather than the extra charge for that on top of the higher cost of the same appliances at Lowe's.
