    @Frank Sanoica , just go and put an egg in a pan of water and heat it up and then put one in the microwave (still in the shell like the boiled one), and then tell me that "heat is heat".

    @Yvonne Smith

    What is it, do you think, that causes an egg i9n the shell to likely burst in a microwave, but it rarely happens (though I have seen it) when boiled in water on a stove? Even better sauce for thought, what happens if an egg in the shell is submerged in a bowl of water, then placed in a microwave?

    "...Rather than using their own common sense, people deferred to the experts, who were employed by the companies selling this stuff. We still do that today, only it's generally the government that's doing the selling..."

    For decades people deferred not so much to the government or "experts", but to Madison Avenue (advertising). The TV show "Mad Men" goes into this quite a bit. Tobacco companies were huge, powerful clients. As Don Draper said, "Lucky Strike can shut our lights off".
