Fish Patties Ingredients: 16 ounces canned salmon of mackerel 1 egg 1/3 cup onion, minced 1/2 cup flour 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder 1 1/2 cups vegetable oil, for frying Directions: Drain salmon. Set aside 2 Tablespoons juice,. Mix together salmon, egg, and onions until sticky. Stir in flour. Add baking powder to juice, then stir into salmon mixture. Form into small patties. Fry until golden brown (about 5 minutes). I make 4 patties and fry them in the deep fryer.
Mmm, another way to eat salmon. Food can be monotonous at times so new recopies that's simple is so good. My tuna fry is simpler. Just add a whole can of tuna to scramble eggs add your spices and fry till dome. You can eat it in a sandwich, with rice or potatoes. I love to fry can tuna in oil and eat it with rice, but it spits sooo much I added and egg and it fries up nicely. I love my tuna fry with a little soy sauce and rice. Today to watch out for diabetes 2 we add brown rice, white rice, lentils and barley and sometimes black rice. Thanks for the recipe and I hope you enjoy my fish fry too.
@Sheldon Scott, that is much like I make them. We call them fish cakes. I have never tried onions in them but I will now. I don't use baking powder in mine because I use self rising flour.
@Shirley Martin Forgiving, or acknowledging, my ignorance,....what is "self-rising" flour? Added ingredients? Frank
I really don't know @Von Jones, it was in the recipe I found on Cook's.com and I liked it so I didn't change anything.
@Sheldon Scott with the exception of the baking powder our recipes are pretty much the same. I usually coat my mackerel patties with cornmeal before frying that makes them crunchy.
Self-rising flour has all the ingredients -salt, baking power, etc. except sugar that is used for baking. It just eliminates these extra measuring steps.
