I am not sure if the Obama part is good or bad, and it remains to be seen whether he actually does still go there if a hurricane is going to hit the Big Island. From the article that I read, this is the first time that a hurricane has actually hit right onto the island, and there is an even stronger hurricane coming right behind the first one.
Whether hurricane Lester will follow right in the path of hurricane Madeline seems to be unclear at this point; but if it even comes close to the same route there will be some really bad storms from both of them.
Which Island are you on , @Krissttina Isobe , and are you and your mom prepared for the storms to hit tomorrow or the next day ?

@Yvonne Smith Any chance he might drown there?

:oops:We live on Oahu where Pres. Obama and 160 dignitaries for 160 countries are coming too for the international conference from IUCN. So far the hurricanes been down graded to tropical storm and only Madeline's large size, it's sides is passing over the Big Island which is the southern most island of Hawaii. We are praying and as many other's praying so the storms dissipate safely out at sea and so it's remnants just fizzle away and be good for part of the island which is going through drought. So safe end to droughts as well as better weather is needed here and on Earth. Pitiful Italy and other parts of the world is going through a lot. It's good that Pres. Obama is coming for tourism always is better when Pres. Obama comes to island. Though we are going through street closures locally for security reasons, it's alright to me for tourism climbs to heights when conferences happen. I'll always like
Pres. Obama because he brought forward universal health care.

I am very glad that you are not in the path of the hurricane, @Krissttina Isobe , and I hope that the storm does just what you suggested, blows on over and just leaves plenty of rain to help end the drought you have out there.
We seem to have quite a few storms coming on right now.
You have Lester, and then Madeline coming after.
Here, on the East Coast, there are two hurricanes and one tropical depression. The most worrisome one is in the Gulf of Mexico, and they think it will turn and go across the top of Florida. However, hurricanes do not always do what we predict they will do, and if it goes a different direction, it could hit poor Louisiana, or even go west and make landfall in Texas.
I guess we will be seeing what that one does in the next few days also.
If I remember right, one of the places that Obama bought property is in Hawaii somewhere; so once he leaves office, maybe you can have him out there permanently.

:eek:Oh wow! God help us and keep us all safe. You know what ...I found in the Bible Mathew 1:1-6 that we can count on Jesus for help against bad weather, so I pray a lot too about weather. God help and protect us all from disasters...please dissipate all bad weather safely, protect us all from adversity and bad weather. Protect our electricity (or gas), internet use, water, sewage, phone use, etc...and businesses too especially from lightening strikes...in the name of Christ, thank you, amen. You should customize your prayers for yourself, family and friends & acquaintances plus colleagues too. Let's hope for the best and stay tuned to local broadcasts for the latest and see what we should do if things turn for the worst. I got extra radio batteries and we keep watching our news always. Got weather alert sites too, that your weather news station is one of them, good to keep in close contact with when the weather isn't so good. According to a book by Annette Sandoval about Saints, The Directory of Saints, there are many Saints that help with protection against adverse weather too.

Bite your tongue, @Yvonne Smith;)! I definitely don't need a hurricane or even a tropical storm here. I'm not planning to shop until my check hits the bank, and I don't have much water or toilet paper here right now, not to mention litter and cat food . I'm always on edge when my supplies get low. Once I get stocked up, bring it on!!

@Krissttina Isobe I saw a headline about a hurricane heading your way and wondered whether it would affect you, so I'm glad you posted. Hopefully none of us will be affected, and the storms will all dissipate.

It looks like you are quite safe, @Diane Lane . From what they are showing on the NOAA hurricane page, hurricane Hermine is still headed northeasterly, and expected to cross through northern Florida, and then make its way up the East Coast from there.
They are saying lots of rain, flooding and bad storms along with that. We might get some rain from it; but it is not looking like it will do much up here where we live, if at all.
Except for when tornadoes come through, we really do not have many bad storms here, it seems like. I would love to live close enough to go spend the day at the ocean; but I do not want the storms that comes along with living that close.
Or even more humidity than we already have right here, either. That is one thing that I miss from out west, is the clear, fresh air. I can breathe SO much better when I am out there, too.

:oops:As of this evening 6PM news hurricane Lester is veering north and if it shrinks it won't bother any island at all. We are all praying and hoping keeping peeled to the news. We're praying for FL too and other parts of the country, but keeping our ears open for what our Gov and Mayor has to say too. The IUCN meeting is going on too on Oahu! God help us all and protect us all from disasters or any adverse weather. (I pray too for protection for a lot of things like electricity, water, internet and whatever we need too.) Praying so hurricanes and storms keep away from land and shrinks and dissipates safely to be beneficial. Prayer anyone can do any time.

It is good you are safe Kristina. I was talking to someone else last night who lives in Hawaii, she said that it might effect Kauaii..but the other islands seem to be safe. As I posted in the Good Morning thread, our area has not been affected much by the hurricane, but I can't say the same for the coastal areas. they are having some problems from what I hear. It sounds like you are in good shape there. Thank God For that. I was affected by hurricane Isabel way back in 2005 when I still lived in NOVA,,ad our power was out for 3 days.
