We've sold all sorts of electronics on eBay, including very old cell phones, old wireless phones, parts for obsolete computers, old routers, and stuff I used to throw away.

I saw something on TV where people were selling Direct TV remotes they were no longer using on eBay. I am probably going to switch back to Direct TV, and I am sure they will give me new remotes, so I was thinking maybe I would try to sell my old ones on there. Again, I would put this in the category of who knew? As they say, "One person's trash is another one's treasure."

All I've done is go round and round with people on the sales apps lately. I sold the tablet twice on eBay, because the first guy didn't pay, so I filed a case and had to sit & wait an additional 5 days, which was ridiculous. Then I relisted it, and that guy took 3 days to pay after he won the auction. What a pain in the butt, just to sell a few things. The market has certainly changed for the worse over the past 10 years, and it's a lot more work just to sell small items. I swear the girl I was dealing with the other day acted as if it was the sale of a mansion, not a small personal care item, asking a gazillion questions and then trying to get it for half off my listed price. I heard from someone else on another item I'm selling, offering to pay about 50% again. I research everything before I list it, and know what items are going for, yet these clowns expect to start off by insulting sellers and then harassing them with 8-10 questions per item, then expect us to drive all over creation to meet them for a few bucks.

The only thing I was able to sell pretty easily was the bookcase which was on a community yard sale site. The picked it up so that wasn't a problem. Someone from Close 5 was asking about my Ipod and alarm charger I think they are worth more money than what I am offering, but I don't seem to have the charger that came with the item. OH well

So, in my quest to get rid of things, I was cleaning out my walk in closet. It just seems like some of my stuff is such a close call as to keep or donate. I know that alot of the stuff when new was fairly expensive, and the fact that I could possibly use them again makes me want to hold onto them, though truly some of the items haven't been used or worn for years. Well, I did manage to throw away a few things, and put some items in the donation box. I mean Rome wasn't built in a day. I kind of wish I was me turbo charged though...instead of poking along!!

How come you have old remotes? When I switched from AT&T TV to Direct TV recently, I had to send back all my remotes, the receivers and some other stuff, if I didn't they would charge me $475!

Shipping was free and that included UPS boxing it up also. I had like 3 weeks to get it to them. The guy at UPS told me to hold on to my receipt for a long time, like 6 months. Seems they've had problems.

Well I had the Direct TV equipment long enough to have purchased it outright. So Consequently, I have the dish, the receiver, the remotes etc. I tried to sell the dish and the receiver, no takers. I never thought of the remotes. Anyway, it isn't as easy to get rid of things as many people seem to think it is. It is a project that has been taking me quite some time.

If ya can't get rid of it, sell it, give it away or trash it, turn it into something worth trashing, giving away or selling.
Yeah, Lawn Art!! Bolt stuff togeather and paint it weird colors and throw it into the front yard. Wherever it lands is a well placed project!!

Here's a few examples I thought ya'll might like. I'm sure other folks here can come up with some more ideas.

I have an old remote because the last guys that came out to restore my service after the 3-day outage noticed I was running one remote between the two upstairs rooms, and gave me a brand spanking new one. It works differently, has buttons in places the old ones don't, so I sometimes hit the wrong button, but I always get it figured out in the end. Good to know about hanging onto the receipt @Chrissy Page, I'm glad you mentioned that. I wish the UPS store was closer. It would be much easier if I could just take it to the post office or pack it up and have them pick it up for free.

I haven't heard any more from the loonies on the local sales apps, and the Facebook sales groups seem to have no action lately. There's always Freecyle if you're giving items away for free and would like to give someone a chance at them before donating or trashing.

Yes, I really don't think our local freecycle is in existence anymore. I haven't gotten any postings from them in forever. However, the local yard sale site does occassionally post free items. ALso, since people here have to go to commnunal trash points to get rid of trash, people leave things they think other might want on the back of the trash pick up containers. I have gotten a few things there, and have donated some as well. One thing for some of my numerous paperbacks the local library has an exchange program. I was thinking of bring in maybe 3 and taking one.

My boys got the furniture when Husband/Dad passed. My youngest (Pip) was 2 yrs. old. And it was an all out move, with just the cloths on our backs, and toys. When husband was alive we had a home built in Harlingen, Texas. Me & Pip moved and it lasted 1 yr. when the S&L bellied-up, I was ready to move back to Toledo, Ohio. Sold the Texas house, took a loss. The only ones fairing out were the pawn shops. Lucky I had our monies moved to Wells-Fargo. Next week the S&L we dealt with locked the doors. Customers crying their hearts out. Armed guard in front. Then the 3rd. worst orange freeze in valley history. Because I hadn't bought furniture. It was open space. The freeze was so bad there was an all out plea for people to open their homes to the migrant works. Talked with the neighbor and we had plans to open our homes. He had 2 families, I had 3 families, for a week. When moving to Florida, I bought a 3 bedroom, and bought used furniture, and not much of it. Sold it way to much house. Pip, went to high school and receive 4 certifications in computer electronics. This was his interest. By then I had bought a single-wide trailer with land. Plus it was close to Walker Vocational Tech he was attending. (YES), really downsized. It was carrying a tape measure when buying anything. Instead of a giant sofa it was 2 love seats (leatherette) I have 4 cats and 1 dog. All my furniture was bought at Goodwill. TV bought new and most appliances. Washer, used from Salvation Army. Wore the heck out of it and paid, $100.00 dollars. The other day had to buy a new timer $30.00. Our Goodwill sells new mattresses & Springs. Bought 2 sets. So in a sense we recycled our furniture. What the older boys didn't want went to Goodwill or Salvation Army. I come along and need a few pieces and buy from these places.;)

I was the director of the EMT program at Texas State Technical College in Harlingen for six years, and lived in Los Fresnos, south of Harlingen, for about twelve years before moving to the McAllen area.

Oh My Gosh, We lived on 26th. St. Harlingen. The fellow who bought our house, was a head master, at the all boys military school. At the time we made the move was 1984, and a real bad time for not only Harlingen, but the Rio Grand Valley.

So anyway, this is how it goes when you are selling things, Someone messages me about this video pojector I have for sale, to make a long story short we go back and forth on Facebook messaging each other. First she tells me 11am because she is at the eye doctor. I thought it was local, but she said it was in Richmond. a good hour away,..anyway, back and forth, we agree to meet at a local convenience store..This is like 1:00 pm when I finally hear from her. She told me earlier she was driving a red jeep. So, I pull into the store, looking for a red jeep. I am walking around. I see a little kid looking like he was waiting for someone. He says he is not waiting for anyone. Then I see a lady in a white truck looking out her window..I hear her tell a lady she is looking for someone with a video projector. I said Hey, here I am. You told me you were driving a red jeep. She said ohhh yeah...anyway, of course it was her son, who claimed he was not lookng for anyone. Anyway, finally it was sold! Always like this!
