I'm not married to any of the words. Memoirs might work with another companion word.

Now that I am starting to put the sub-site together, I don't really like these category headings. They are based on the categories in the forum, which I like, but I would like to come up with a one-word category name (or two short words) that could encompass the topics in these categories.

    Senior Forums
    Education & Entertainment
    Getting it Done
    Hot Button Issues
    I Remember When
    On the Lighter Side
    Ourselves & Others
    Other Topics

I am also open to splitting some of them up, such as education and entertainment, for the purpose of the articles section.

It likely will be, and of course I'm looking to attract those who aren't members too.

I have started several articles and some are already in the midway point. They are all about my real experiences in life and has a varied theme. When this sub site finally opens, I would have the motivation to finish those articles and probably write more, I'm sure there would be more since all those interesting experiences are in my medulla oblongata just waiting to be mined.

As I have said, I'm sure other denizens here would be motivated to write their own stories once they get to read the initial articles.

SPONTANEOUS HUMAN COMBUSTION by A, J. Tanner

I am sure most of us have read stories about this particular phenomenon and once I get my thoughts together I will share with you a personal experience that took place in Northern California 1963.

I was always fascinated by that subject when I was younger, you heard about it happening more than you do now.

I am still a new kid on this Forum and trying to find my way around.
Where do I write and post my story?

That's all in this thread, @Ren Tanner. You can send it to me via private conversation here if you'd like or by email at kenanderson@kenanderson.net but if you're sending by email, let me know first so that I can look for it. I delete 99% of my email and sometimes the good stuff gets hit in the process.

Help me brainstorm this, if you're up to it. I am looking for from five to eight general topics under which these articles can be categorized. Maybe I'm getting hung up on having them correspond to the forum categories. Aesthetically, there won't be a lot of room for the menu items so I'm trying to think of one word category names, or two very short words, if necessary.

Okay, this doesn't cover everything yet but how about something along the lines of...

    People
    Places
    Things
    Plants
    Thoughts
    Animals

There's room for two more, possible I can squeeze a third one in since they're short. I am looking for categories into which all of our articles could be sorted. They will also be able to be found by title, but I need to categorize them as well. If I could come up with topics that each had six characters, my OCD would be satisfied.

This might be doable. So far, I have...

    People
    Places
    Things
    Plants
    Musing
    Belief
    Animal

Can you think of anything that you might want to write about that couldn't fit into one of these categories?

    Animal
    Belief
    Forums
    Musing
    People
    Places
    Plants
    Senior

There will, of course, be descriptions for each of these categories that will give detailed explanation of what may be in them, plus there will be a sitemap that will include each article by title.

SPONTANEOUS HUMAN COMBUSTION by A, J. Tanner

I am sure most of us have read stories about this particular phenomenon and once I get my thoughts together I will share with you a personal experience that took place in Northern California 1963.

It was a Sunday morning and I had just arrived at the Mortuary after breakfast with my wife & daughter. Working as a Embalmer/Funeral Director and ON Call for the weekend. I had just settled down in the lounge to watch a NFL game with the San Francisco 49ers playing ?? Our business was on call to receive any Coroner type deaths that might occur during the weekend. I answered the phone on the first ring and the caller told me that there had been a fire at a home on Mt Pleasant Road and they suspected that some one had died in the fire. The Mortuary owner was at church with his wife so I took the Removal Car and drove the 20 minutes to the fire address. Driving by the house I fully expected to see damage or smoke, but the house looked fine. The home was situated on 20 acres that had apple trees. I pulled into the driveway and parked, got out of the car and went to the front door. (to be continued)

I don't want the menu to take up more than one line, but if I keep them at six characters each, I could fit a few more categories. I don't want the menu to take up more than one line.

    Forums
    Memoir

The last one isn't alphabetical because it's the equivalent of the About Us page that you see on most sites. Maybe I could add "Tales" for fiction stories. No wait, that's only five. I'm just thinking here. Feel free to get your thesaurus out and have a got at it.
