I only arrived here at lunch time today ...oh it's Beautifull weather wise 22c when we got off the plane ,which by the way was a little bumpy getting through the stormy South Australian clouds ...mind you I did see the sun before getting on the plane ,but by the time we took off it was all gloomy..as usual
The photo of plane is in Adelaide .......you can just see the city and the hills ,through the the gloomy sky in the background...
I seen this lizard while out this afternoon sunning itself on a neighbouring fence ,next to where I. Staying up the GC ...I'm not sure what it's called
    Maybe the water dragon ..?

The other is the wild turkeys which roam the streets here ..can't get very close to take their photo

I'm glad you arrived Safely Kate and are now basking in some sun after your winter weather at home...nice pictures....

We're at around 22 degrees today as well but we've got no sun..just a big cloudy sky, so enjoy that sun on your bones while you can!! :D

I will ask at tourist office tomorrow about what's the lizard called, however because there is so much water here I'm pretty sure it's a water dragon ..that one would be a good 18" in old measurements long it didn't blink an eyelid by getting close to it taking its photo ..
I took the photo with my iPad of the plane through a fairly dirty double glazed window, and considering, the combination of the gloomy skies and window ....I'm supprised it turned out so clear @Holly Saunders ..

The big lizard looks like an iguana or maybe it is. What an amusing creature, huh. And it's interesting to see a wild turkey which means there is no owner? So Gold Coast is in Australia, I didn't know that. What I heard was Ivory Coast. From what I gathered there are many strange animals in Australia with the most popular is the kangaroo followed by koala which is not a bear but a squirrel.

I wish to see more pictures of your trip. Enjoy your stay in Australia.

Enjoy your trip, Kate! That's a neat looking lizard. I'm only only used to seeing little geckos in CA.

Kate I agree I was surprised at how well the pictures came out through the grubby plane window when I used my iphone and ipad...:D

Talking of Iguanas we have some in Southern Spain and often see them near where our daughter lives in the mountains ...here's one albeit living in the local Butterfly park on the coast on the Costa del sol....about 20 minutes down the mountain from her house..

I live in Australia @Corie Henson :D I'm Aussie born and breed :D
We live in South Australia ..which can be very cold during the winter months ( we don't get snow) however we have had allot of gale force winds/ rain this winter making it the coldest wettest winter ever recorded for SA ...We escape up here to Queensland ..(The GC is part of Queensland, where we stay is about 80 km south of the capital city of Qld,which is called Brisbane) Qld is approx 3,000 km from where we live ) We "escape" up here every year for a month, our winter..daytime temps are about 10c ,compaired to the daytime temps here 22-26 ...mind you I'd hate to live here in the summer as it's very humid here ..where we only get an accasional humid day

I don't know a great deal about the turkeys but they are almost like seagulls around here they appear where there is easy pickings for food ,no one owns them .They have pretty markings around their head ( red, yellow green) but you can't get close enough to take a photo to see that ..

I have an online friend who lives in the Gold Coast area, it seems like a lovely area indeed. It would be fun to visit Australia. Another friend who lives in the Sydney area sent me some lovely pictures from there. Unless, I win a trip there however, I am unlikely to visit. My goal is to visit China though. That would be pretty amazing. Thanks for posting!
